parked my car at work this week (admittedly running low on feul,) i left her faceing the wind and the rain , you know whats comming people , went to start her up which was fine , pulled away and started to drive home when she lost revs , checking the feul gauge i was just about out or the way she was behaving out of feul, idiot i am, topped up which a jerry can sparked up started to drive then she started to couugh and splutter and die on me , this did happen a few monts ago in the real bad rain we had but she would fire up and if i kept the revs up i could drive but the moment my foot was off she died then it would be an age before i could get her statred again , but this time she would fire idle rough as hell and die or fiire up rev to bout 2500 revs coughing all the way and die ,called the AAout and he checked the feul pump which he seemed to think was fine by listening to it ,and towed me home ,

but reading other threads on hear it could be the maf is gone am i rite or any chance of something more simple as i need the car for work mon

Yep sounds like MAF to me :(

Just curious really, what sort of induction kit do you have ?

smithy

There's always the chance it could be the connection, but, yeah, sounds MAF related if it revs up to 2500rpm only..

Do you have a vented centre panel that could have let water in on the connectors? Worth getting in there and checking, cleaning and reseating.. just in case.

Ditto, take maf connector off, if its wet or damp, it will cause engine revs to 2500. give it a clean and dry it out. check for signs of green stuff on the blades.

Have a look at temp sensor on the front hardpipes the yellow one.
