Well how much are the repairs?? Sounds like a good deal!!!

Got a friend who will do it for £500 if i find a door & wing which also includes repairing the front bumper which the speed bumps have destroyed

:hyper: more than what they wanted to give you in the first place..... good going :D

Hope to see it on the road again and and up and coming meets!!! Oh and keep away from old bints in Portswood :)

Excellent news.

I think that if my car ever got written off I'd take the money and break it.

Would work out probably making double than what I would get if I sold it.

lol at "old bints in Portswood"

I used to live in Portswood, it is full of old people and students, there seems to be nothing in between!

Glad you can fix your car mate, and a tidy little bonus in the back pocket too!

Will the car now be classed as Cat D or something?

According to my insurance company no

According to my insurance company no

yes it will, thats what i was told, then when i changed address on my log book the dvla kept my log book till i got a vic check done, my car is now classed as a class c (econmical write off), any payout of insurance will automatically put your car on the list

any car that has been wrote off by insurance and repared will require a a vic test before you sell it, it will then come back with a note on the bottom of the log book declaring that it has been or will need to be substantionally reapaired

For some reason my car escaped this. The damage was severe too as you may see from my rides section. The car is not classed as a write off on the log book and did not need a vic check. I even rang dvla to confirm this. :hyper:

i rang the dvla and was told the same, then when i sent off log book it was kept till the vic check was done, you may find this happening to you if you sell and change the keeper, the new keeper may find that the vehicle will require a vc check and then they are entitled to bring it back

be carefull

It was a friends car and after the accident i bought it off the insurance company. Log book got sent off and no problems. Guess i got lucky.

There are a few catagories for written off cars. It goes along the lines of....

Category A - Vehicle must be crushed. All of it.

Category B - Car may not be returned to road. Parts may be sold.

Category C - Repairable. Possibly structural damage. Cost of damage (at main dealer prices and labour rates) is more than book value of car. VIC check required and V5 will state that the vehicle has been substantially damaged/repaired.

Category D - Repairable. Probably non-structural damage. May have been economic to repair, but insurer doesn't want to.

Category F - Damaged by fire.

Category X - Repairable. Minor Damage.

Forgot to mention that cat D, F and X don't require a VIC and don't show on the V5 however should show up if you do an HPI check.

they write off my first zx ,they offerd me £3000 for it and i got it back from them for £300 then i've bought another one ,put all the good bits on it and sell the rest.I have made quite a bit of money aswell...only on the engine i got £1500 plus a lot more for the rest of the car

i forgot to say ,the car was C category but no one asked me for the log book , but i've been told than i need to do the vic check ,the car is gone now but i still got the number plate H7 XTT
