I think UK and Jap sound different like Wow300 says, his z and Red zeds cars are UK and I can totally notice the difference..even down to he noise when shutting the door.. not that I dont love my z tho :p

In my experience every zed feels different, in some way or another, and its all down to condition, nothing to do with Jap vs UK (comparing regular TT 2+2)

Although in regards to door sound....your talking about S1 Jap which means Seat belts on the doors with upper mounting points, comapred to belts on the pillars and that does make a difference.

I would personally take a Jap over a UK anyday, but besides the obvious corrosion issues thats becuase the best Zed's are Jap - SWB's, Slicktops, Verts (Best looking, best to drive, rarer examples, later years). :D

I must have an excellent uk example then, as NO rust, every single thing works, never failed mot in 7 yrs :hyper:

So whats with the jap spec ones that seem to me more stripped out like a racer, ie cheap plastic steering wheel, no cruise control etc and sound like they have less sound deadening material in them

Mine's jspec and it has cruise control. Plastic and materials are the same in the UK as they are Jspec. I find very little difference in materials from what I've seen.

Been in a few US spec ones too and they are all similar. Some are better than others etc whether they are UK, JDM or USDM.

No i mean the steering wheel without the cruise buttons and is not leather on series 1 on some imports

It was an option, but most came with it, pretty sure they were all leather though. Some UK specs also came without electric driver's seat didn't they?

All have same sound deadening (except after 94 where Nissan started skimping on costs). Nearly all have Cruise control.

All the wheels are the same and leather (with or without cruise), unless there was some extremely rare plastic option that I've not seen ?

I know that my Blue UK Zed is the newest feeling Zed I've ever driven (I've driven a good few now). It just has that everything is tight and solid feel that a new car has. Having owned three other Zeds. All Jspec 90 92 94 they all seemed looser and worn. My blue Zed also has least signs of age and rusty bits. I have owned it though for 8 years and my friend John owned it for the rest of its life. So the car has alway been pampered.

I'm sure that there are Jspec car just as good, but I havent seen them in the fleash, well not yet anyway.

Absolutely, all depends on condition/previous owners.

The nicest I've driven in terms of how modern and smooth it felt was a Standard 94 Jap SWB TT auto. Owned by a famous millionaire who says he's had everything from Ferrari's to Porshes and that the Zed is the best of the lot !

I've driven some seriously rough UK and Jap examples that were awfull to drive, nothing in particular at fault, just nothing felt right. If any of them were the first zed I'd ever driven they would of put me of them for life!

The same goes for a few examples that have had a lot of money spent on them...look great...drive terrible.

20" rims and coilovers? LOL

Mine's not bad. :)

From what I've seen it looks mint. I've seen a few in pic's on here and thought they loked the dagglies and then in real life they are well rough.

Ye the camera really does lie, lol. Mine looks like it does in the pic tho, now been resprayed ;)

UK specs don't have e/folding mirrors did they?

Mine's clean up close. IE, clean even paint, no overspray, not dents, scratched, faided plastic, anything like that. Underside is very clean. :)

You'd pick up the faults on studio photos. :)

Not quite, but Its probably best if I dont mention names LOL

Spending money on the wrong areas's and using cheap parts are the main reasons.
