Anyone been on a Scandinavian Fjord cruise? Maddie and I are looking at going sometime towards the end of the summer.

Not interested in your cheesey Carribean type Cabaret cruise, looking for a nature/wildlife type cruise, so the Fjord cruises fit our taste.

Looked at the Fred Olsen cruises but kinda interested in some of the stuff that Thompson do, up to Bergen, then Oslo, St.Petersberg etc.

Has anyone been on one of these or has any experience of these?

Cheers.

Hi Si

Scubie is right we did do a cruise last year; we went To St Petersburg; we did take in Oslo;Talin; Helsinki etc etc on the way. This was not a Fjord style cruise as the main ones are accross in Norway. Scubie and i did do a large part of Norway on the way back from the Arctic Circle in 06. Some of the sceanary is breath taking ! We crossed a few streatches of water on the way too.

There are a few Co's that deal with cruises; P&O being the largest (we went with them)

You could try http://www.pocruises.com/QuickFinder/Cruises-P810-2008-Summary.aspx if you fancy Norway 7 ports in 14 days; should be great for the sceanary. :hyper:

Have a look at the P&O site too; there are a few that go into that area.

Its not the cheapest; but its one to remember Si.

Hope this is of some help :duffer:

Thanks mate! Arctic circle hey? I've always want to go up there on one of the wildlife cruises.

Did look at the P&O ones, they are quite pricey, but I am sure they are very good. St.Petersburg is a place I've always wanted to go anyway as I've had an urge to go to Russia for some years now. The long 14 day'ers sometimes start from there, transit through the Baltic and Kiel then up to Scandinavia. :)

i went on a cruise once

number 17,a red boat on the park lake and was going great untill we overturned it and swam back full of john smiths

over 20 years ago mind ;)

My Folks went on this cruise with Fred Olsen lines on the Black Prince, to Bergen, and Arctic Circle, did helicopter trip over the north pole and over some icebergs nearly 100mts high above the water line!!!! Saw loads of whales, and the cool lights in the sky, the northern lights Aurora borialis (i think its spelt like that) Dad wont £3k in the casino, As much food as you can handle, and the cabins were superb, bit pricey, but worth it if you have the chance
