Love it !! Unfortunatly I've enquired and they have no intentions of manufacturing a Z32 setup and there existing products can not be altered to fit (according to them). Not sure I would want to spend £750 and try and hack it onto the z32 in the hope it would be possible

I'm not sure, yeah ok you would have a sequential styler shifter but would still imagine you would need to use the clutch as normal which would defeat the object.

Best off saving your pennies and get the real deal in my opinion.

Yes, still need clutch....but thats not a problem....the advantage is no missed gear changes, and quicker shifting even with clutch.

Would an aftermarket ECU solution not provide that all important ignition cut required to do clutchless gear changes? Maybe a device is available which will work on a standard ECU?

Just a thought...

They bodge air shifters onto motorbikes all the time, with little switches to cut the ignition. That bit should be easy.

I don't suppose the Skyline box can be adapted? OSGiken make a sequential 6 speed for the RB engine so maybe you could go that route. Would be £££!

That's what the standard autobox controller and main ECU achieve. In theory would be possible, but how does the ECU know when you're changing gear manually ? Would have to be some sort of switch output fed back to the ECU. Does a sequential box have that ? Seems likely ...

Ignition cut itself wouldn't be enough with the Z32 box, the synchros are weak enough as it is lol

That is very true. Now this pains me to admit, but in my haste to reply I seem to have missed the point LOL. I thought we were talking about replacing the box with a proper sequential one - namely using an adapter plate to mount an OS Giken sequential (which Russ mentioned, which is a straight-cut dog-box, similar to a Quaife IIRC)

Looking again at the link James F posted I see it really is just an adapter to turn a normal 'H' shift pattern on a standard box into a sequential-a-like shift pattern.

I'll go back to 'lurker' mode and only reply when I've read a thread TWICE in future! :)

p.s. I love the fact the foot-in-mouth smiley is called Nelson still! :D

These guys do adaptors for the Z33 wonder if they do one or could for the z32 at only £750 would be great ??

I wish ! My last quote for a six speed sequential was 8k and I may be forced into buying one

this is something i looked into in a great detail and unless you have very deep pockets then forget it ;)

cheapest way to get a proper seq box is to adapt the skyline box, you can pick up a rebuilt os giken s2 box for about £5k, it will bolt straight on which is nice but you would need a transfer box and then it plating up, all you then need is a customer prop making up. The only other possible problem is where the gear stick comes up but hey if you have gone to the trouble of all this then its not a major problem :)

if you do all the above then you will have a 6 speed seq box that can handle upto 1200 bhp :)

also with regards to changing without a clutch, yes you can programme say a motec or a aem to do a flat change but its not recommended if you want it to last, the only way of doing a seemless flat change is by fitting an air shift box, hks do one for the skyline but your looking at silly money, £25k+ i believe!!

ppg also do the dog box internals for a zed which is about £3k and the os giken gear set which is about £3k fitted :)

Mike, regarding the TX box. Could you not remove it and fit a blanking plate? I assume it's bolted to the gearbox and is removable?

why not fit a z33 box to the z32

Its not sequential, its ratios are not ideal, and its very weak.

It is but it needs to be fitted as it also drives to the rear wheels as well and the front and the rear prop then fits to the transfer box.

You may be able to create something to take its place but for how much one costs you may as well fit the skyline transfer box and plate the front DS up but still keep it to drive the rear wheels.

As i say this is all theory as its never been done but in theory after spending lots of time looking into it and speaking with Rod @ RB's who knows just about everything there is to know about skyline gearbox's and he thinks its do'able

Mmmm, that's interesting as it's got me thinking. :)
