Youve raised i point that ive always been curious about. Why is it that the big tuning companys ie HKS, Jun, Greddy etc make uprated inlet manifolds/plenums and exhaust manisfolds for the other popular Jap cars (skylines, supras, evos, scoobys, type R's) and yet nothing is available for the zed???

Ok maybe the plenum quite efficient, but surley the cast iron exhaust manifolds can be improved???

Escort Racing and Jun have made for there Z32 demo vehicles custom Inlet Manifolds/plenums for the Z32, but Im not actually sure if anyone has ever purchased one.

There are various sources for Exhaust manifolds available.

Greddy, Pentroof, Greg Dupree and Escort Racing offer options - I believe the majority of them being Inconel. There are SS Tubular versions, but they have cracking issues.

The MSP (Mike Smith) Cast Manifolds are popular, as they offer the Flow of the Tubulars but without the cracking issues, or expense of Iconel.

Wouldnt the decreasing size keep the air pressure even at the fron and back of the plenum?

its about time someone took on the shitty plenum we have.

looks like 20Gs

I looked into this seriously about a year ago, but couldnt work out a way to not have to have a massive great bulge in the hood.

Liking the ballance bar, and I would imagiine that will flow a hell of a lot better than stock. And if it works and can come in under 2K I see a lot of people round the globe wanting to buy it.

And respect for getting them bloody tubs into a decent position to be worked on.

fitment of the pipes.

aaaah.

Im sure ive seen this pic before, especially the one looking down on the plenum....

dont you think the turbo is a bit close to the belt???

Agreed, the heat those tubs will produce, even when the cam belt cover is on, its going to get warm.

I wouldnt know where to start on that engine, i have enough agro with the engines as it is.

looking at it, has it actually been built to go back in a z32 ?. the manifolds seem to stick a fair way out at the sides so is there enough room.

From what I read, yes it is. I think The Manifolds look like they still out further becuase the new Plenum is'nt as wide

surely the decreasing size of the plenum will cause inconsistent air density in the intake?

I would of thought having the plenum decreasing in size at the rear 2 cylinders would get colder air into them quicker as the rear 2 cylinders run the hottest

I should imagen there will a down side, Nissan spend a fortune in designing

these parts. something is bound to suffer

But fair play for trying we will have to try and find out what happens :duffer:

looks interesting, they have copied the escort racing plenum and either have or copied the escort racing front mounting manifolds

the turbos are garrett GT30r's if anyone is interested ;)

if the turbos are run at full chatter then its a 1000+ bhp car :)

by the way once the cambelt cover is on it wont be too bad as its only the front side of the turbo which is close and thats the cold side not the hot side so it sont get stupidly hot

be interesting to see what fueling he is using?

Mike

actually looking at it, he;s running the border rail and 850cc injectors which wont be enough i feel unless he only runs the turbos at a max of around 1.4 bar ish before he runs out of fuel!!

also suprised he isnt running adjustable pullies?

where does it stop though mike. if the car hits 1000hp then fairl play cos no otehr fooker has got there except for the states as far as I am aware.

that wont fit in a z32 engine compartment without some hammering!.

that wont fit in a z32 engine compartment without some hammering!.

a good hammering on the inner wing will sort that out

i think the turbos i was going to fit needs it hammering in about an inch :p

tool fine adjusting it is then

a good hammering on the inner wing will sort that out
