im trying to set up my xbox 360 with my 1080p HDTV. Problem is, allthough up close the graphics are supurb, things in the distance have pixally edges. I am using an xbox HDTV cable, with the blue green and red connectors into the relevant one on the tv. When I go into xbox settings and change to 1080p it asks if its displaying ok, it is so i press ok. then i getr a second message saying tv set at 50hz. is that right? Game im using is PGR4 which is a 1080p combatible game. When in tv mode as the cars are driving towards you you can see the pixally effect around it and on the panel gaps. up close fantastic but its annoying me. TV is a Toshiba Regza 37inch 1080p.

Any ideas?

are you using an xbox elite or the normal xbox 360?? if its the normal one then its not 1080 anyway

also your using the component leads which do not support 1080p so you need to get a HDMI cable (the elite does come with one)

i guess your using a nornal xbox 360 using the component cable that comes with the xbox so what the tv is trying to do is upscale the image which will stretch it and on games can make it look pixally!!

not alot you can do bud

There was a console update so the Xbox 360 performs at 1080p you dont need the elite for that.

Probably need a HDMI cable tho

ok, switch it to non HD mode and use the compersit mode lead and then go to settings and change the refresh to 60Hz, then switch it back to HDTV mode ;) that should help a little as it forces it to use 60Hz in HD.

thanks for the help peebs.

if you have a older 360 you cant use a hdmi cable as it doesnt have a hdmi port , only the newer models using the same mobo as the elite comes with hdmi ports

Ive been doing some looking round the web and it seems that i can run 1080p if i use the VGA cable into the TV. I have a VGA cable somewhere as i used to run my xbox on my PC monitor.

Does this sound correct?

it sounds feasable and im sure i read something about that a while back as what your saying is something im sure i heard before

on my old xbox 360 it would play 1080p through component port on tv

, re red blue green ,

but it wont do 1080i or hd without hdmi cable and the standard xbox360 doesnt have the output , you need the elite for that ,,

^^^ its the other way round bud. as for vga yes you can get 1080p through it i heard you can up scale dvds this way too
