........I have to ask, why the "Z" badging then?

All Z/ZX cars carried the same "Z" badge until the 350Z, where the "Z" character was updated a little ;)

Actually they were all slightly different. ;)

What is the difference between a sports car and a Gt car?

A sports car is designed with the intention of only travelling fast; nimble and light with only a secondary regard for comfort. Examples being the MX5, MR2, Ferrari F355 etc.

A GT car is a coupe designed for transporting 2 people and their luggage across continents quickly but in comfort too. Examples being the 300zx, Aston DB9, Jag XK8, Ferrari 456gt etc.

It's true that the 300zx is no sports car but that does not exclude it from being a Z car. Nissan originally made the 240Z as a sports car to rival the E-type but at a price not too different from the MGB.

The 280zx, 300zx (Z31 and Z32) were still Z-cars but by the time of their inception, the market had changed from that of the late 1960s. Market forces determined that people spending X amounts of ££s (or rather US $$s ;) ) would favour a fast but comfortable GT car rather than an out and out sports car. There's nothing that says only the sports cars were Z-cars.

Poll the Z-club; I bet I know which way it will go......... ;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Ah yes, some had that funny little "dash" in the middle of the Z....... :slap:

I've not looked at them all together so I'll take your word mate ;)

Still, they all have "Z" badges on them - even the UK spec had one on the steering wheel!
