I have been putting it off for about a year now lol.

I'm booked in on the rollers on the 9th of jan so gotta be done by then!

All the hard bits done today!

After about 40min of trying to get the heater box back in relised the air con box had to come out as that was the last one to go in.

So I started taking the air con box out and wasnt able to get it to come free. Spent about 15min turning the big nuts in the engine bay but they just turned. I now know that you have to get a spanner on each end! Anyway got sick of messing so got the bolt cutters out and chopped the pipes off!

Pulled them out from the engine bay side and bunged up the holes. Took the air con box appart and removed the matrix, blocked the holes in this so its now just a connetor pipe.

Well I have neatened up all my wiring, put the crash bar and ducting back in.

ready for the dash going back in now!

  • Author

OK i finished putting the drivers side back in, hope it all works lol!

There are big plastic tubes that the heater air comes down from the blower, a right pain to get on!

On the passenger side above the glove box there is one, it must have come out with the dash as I have not seen it before. There is one of those little white temp senders in it.

Can anyone tell me where abouts on that pipe the hole is for it as I have bolted the dash all back in and forgot to put the temp sender in doh!?

hiya mate, glad to see your nearly finished, good work, lol

I would have took a pic of progress but it was almost 1am by the time I packed up last night!

now thats keen  i hope you have a nice warm garage.

  • Author

Nope, no garage. Outside in a t shirt in the car with an extension lead and lamp lol

Its due back on the rollers on Wednesday and I dont wana miss it as there is about a 3 week wait for nobles.

Also im working all weekend and every day last week, Wednesday is my next day off!

fook me, you are a busy bee.

ahh, ta hellraiser.

Dont think you can get the dash out with the steering wheel in the way, in any case its just better for access, seats coming out too probably, so i can lie under the dash to get at the clutch pedal etc.

Im changing the heater matrix and clutch booster by the way.

Ed

heater matrix its a nitemare costing me £360 to get one fitted at http://www.hypertechscotland.co.uk/

Do it yourself then lol

The temp sensor I was on about sits in the middle of the tube that feeds the windscreen vents. Can I f%£k get it back in! I unbolted the passanger side of the dash again and pulled it out a bit, got the sensor up on top of the pipes but cant get my hand round enough to pop it in the hole. Been trying for an hour and I have given up. I'm not taking the dash out again as all my clocks etc are back in place.

Mate reckons it will mess the heater system up, but if anything it will think its colder than what it is and supply more heat. Not a major issue as I have no air con anyway.

Anyone else know what problems this might cause, all the others are in ok.

Its the one the arrow is pointing to, it was hanging down in the passanger footwell, its now loose in the little trough area around the hole its supposed to be in. Its not going to cause any major problems with the heater controls is it?

Grrr cant get the passager side plastic ducting on that connects the heater box and pipe going across the passenger side!

Looks like its meant to go back in before the impact bar, which means I may have to take it all out again!

bugger

I'm sure that top pipe should be screwed on Ed!

Which other ducting? The one under the dash?

  • Author

Had an hour break and went back down to the car with a new attitude and a rubber malet!

It hurt but I got the temp sensor poped in and the ducting in!

Had to unbolt the passenger side of the dash and the crash bar, then pull on it as hard as I could to get the extra few mm.

Glove box all back in now! Just gotta sort out my gauges and boost controller etc.

Then the battery is going back in to see how many fires I can start lol!

Note to self : Put the fing ducting and temp sensor in before the dash next time! :wack:

Right bed time, work at 8am!

Which other ducting? The one under the dash?

That top pipe is screwed on, the ducting I was on about is the big 90 degree bend that goes from the heater box to the passanger main ducting pipe.

Yer doing a great job there Edwardo.Soon be MFN time.Wish I could get out to my Zed as I did me back in two days before Crimbo and am still hobling around on sticks. Your doing a job that I certainly would not want to tackel, well done Bud.

Feelin it this morning lol, been at work since 8am but only just woke up lol.

Sorry to hear about your back vinc, mine is pretty sore too!

Just thinking about having to bleed the coolant system now the new matrix is in.

Anyone had probs with air locks after fitting a new matrix or do I just set it to hot and squeeze the pipes like normal?

  • Author

Well I connected the battery back up and no fires!

Everything seems to work except:

passanger side mirror wont fold out (drivers working fine and the glass is moving fine on both of them)

I have checked the connector to the switch panel is on firmly, it must have come off in the glove box area somewhere.

Out of my EL z gauges the boost gauge is not lighting up! I hate it when these are out!

(I have swapped the plug over to one of the other dials and they light up ok so there is power going to it)

Looks like I need new El Dials? I have tried wiggling the wires as they go into the clocks but nothing.

Grrrr !

What sort of connectors do they have inside?

Not started it yet as my boost gauge is still to go in.

Anyone got any ideas on the mirror, which plug is it down near the glovebox?

Odd that the glass still moves on it.

  • Author

Mirror working again! Magic!

El dial still dead, and my gauges have no lighting which runs from the clocks so they are coming out again!

Took her for a spin tonight.

I got hot air coming out the vents and a clutch thats light as hell

JOB DONE! (for now)!

woo hoo good job ed i bet ya chuffed to bits
