Just had my renewal through for the Scooby and I cannot believe my eyes. £300 for 12 months! My car is a 99 so should not have the tax calculated on Co2 however thats exactly what those tossers at the DVLA have done.

I know it states thats cars registered after 2000 or something are subject to the amount of Co2 produced although I have always assumed this was only relevent to UK domestic market cars.

I wonder if they have now extended this rule to ANY car registered after 2000 now?

If this is the case then most of our cars will be paying far more for road tax from now on.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem with road tax recently?

As long as there's corners it doesnt matter what your driving;)

so what position did it come on the top gear list, round a track with corners ? :hyper:  . im not sure, but i dont think it was anywhere near the top of the list, same goes for the evo as well.

But thats on a race track. Now in the real world there is nothing that will get you from one place to another quicker. Please not I do still love Zeds though! LOL

a good scooby would kill a good zed on the twistys--fact ;)

umm. i cant remember a zed being mentioned :slap:  the term (doesnt matter what your driving) was though.

no i only read from the bottom up :smash: and when has 0-60 got to do with car tax :mac1:

When it has to do with how much the Goverment hate you and make you pay!

and when has 0-60 got to do with car tax :mac1:

ive no idea, ask justin , he brought it up :D

Its great how a bit a Crimbo spirit can turn a serious thread into a lighthearted one.

ok ok ok. its now time for you to get rid of the scooby and get something that costs less in tax :D but corners as well.

ive deleted all off topic replys because us mods can do that sort of stuff.

are you happy now

I think road tax should be put on fuel instead. That way the more you drive the more you pay. I leave the Scooby off the road at home most days so why should I pay loads to tax it!

Good in principal but isn't the government already doing this in addition to road tax :slap:

Richard ;)

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Just an update and the next few lines should really test out the swear filters!

The DVLA are a thieving bunch of ******s and can ******* suck my big fat man vegetable!

Now thats over I called the DVLA earlier ragarding my OTT demand for Road Tax and incredibly enough got thorugh to someone within two minutes!

It would appear that for some reason those lovely Welsh people at the DVLA have managed to obtains the CO2 figure for my car and have therefore based my road tax on it despite the fact that normaly I should only be paying tax baed on engine capacity!

I asked if I could appeal this and he said "no, not really".:headvswal

Now that sounds very unfair to me.

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Yeah right!:xxx:

If they have made a mistake then you cannot be expected to pay for it. If the RFL for your car should be on the old engine size scale rather than CO2, it would be £180 maximum. Of course you can appeal - ignore what the dick 'ed on the phone said and write to his bosses!

Yeah, a firm letter might carry a litle more weight.

A guy on Surrey Scoobies said they have probably obtaines the CO2 fifure from the MOT when it was SVA'd.

I still don't know how this can be right. Its one rule for one and something else for everyone else. How disorganised!!!!

£300 a year is what we will have to pay on Hayleys RX8 next year seeing as the dealer only give you 6 months free!!

But £300 a year for tax is nothing when its costing over £100 a week in fuel!!

I thought the zeds fuel economy was bad!

LOL, Doubt it can be as bad as my Scooby.

I have got 230 miles out of a 65 litre tank so far and thats my record!

170 miles on 40 quid on the rex, best thing is how you drive it makes no diff, drive it hard or gentle it goes no further.

  • 2 months later...

just checked my road tax after budget:

6 Months Rate £101.75

12 Months Rate £185.00

gone up a few quid since last checked

dan.

£185! My heart bleeds for you mate!

I can make you feel better, I pay £20 less than that for 6 months and I am too scared to look at what it has gone up to now!
