Any thoughts or tips welcome - the HICAS light comes on when i have been driving for about 20 mins in the motorway at high speed - on normal b road driving it does not do it - any ideas?

Also can anyone like Kwik fit check whether the HICAS is working correctly and toppped up? As it just does not feel right at the mo but as i'm new to these cars i dont know! (normally would not go to these guys but gonna pop in for wheel balancing)

Pretty easy to check if its topped up....... Open bonnet, there is a pot thingy on left (green one) open and check if there is fluid.... more than likely needs topping up if your light is on ;)

Does it feel like the back end is a bit loose and skippy? if it does that would point to worn HICAS joints. The light as 300zx girl said is probally low PAS/HICAS fluid.

Great stuff - thanks very much - that link is good too as i want to know my way around the engine and do as much as i can myself - may be a girlie but i'm into cars in a big way! :nana2:

Will check the fluid myself - what do you use to top it up - is it specialsit stuff or can i get it from high street motor shop

It does feel a bit skippy to be honest - will get joints checked out - are they easy to identify as my garage is a novice on these beasts ;)

I believe that the fluid you need is dot 3 power steering fluid. Pretty readily available at most motor factors!

yeah halfords - dexron 3 fluid stuff ;)

Aftermarket steering wheel? Either the steering wheel isn't on straight or you don't have the correct boss fitted - thats what's causing the light to come on :)

I thought DOT 3 was brake fluid
