as i had not done these stats for quite a while, i had no real idea how much the forum had grown....

from 13/jun/2002 10:12 to 21/jun/2002 14:23

= 8.25 days

= 5,590,677,640

over 5.5G

from 21/jun/2002 14:24 to 30/jun/2002 09:47

= 8.75 days

= 6,313,681,652 bytes

over 6G

from 30/jun/2002 09:51 to 16/jul/2002 23:30

= 17 days or so

= 10,333,807,758

over 10G

so on average, we are looking at around 20G per month which is what Mike has offered.

Although we could trim some down by disallowing large sigs (or any image sigs), disallowing video clips, limiting the image sizes again, and also the number of images allowed etc..

but i had planned on doing the web based 300zx.co.uk email accounts as well which the old server could not cope with...

but the old 64M P166 has handled this load quite well....

bandwidth costs money, and it means we would be paying extra charges almost straight away...

but it also makes Mikes deal look very attractive, which i have already swapped emails about with him.

why do you think i have spent so long looking at all of the deals. I have been in the ISP/hosting business for 8 years. I know what works, what costs, and what to look for.

if 20G per month scares any of you hosting people offering special deals, then now is the time to back away gracefully, as it will only go up, and i want the best deal possible for the members money !!!

Craig,

Im not sure what offers you have had but what about this place

http://powerraq.com/

£831 a year on a 1 year contract or £623 a year on a 3 year contract for 20GB of disk storage, 20GB a month of data transfer, unlimited email accounts, and extra bandwidth for £6.99 per GB on your own Cobalt RAQ

I have no affiliation with this company but do use some of their services.

Craig, I know we spoke in the past about sharing a server, but there's no way we can match that deal. You'd be mad not to take it!

All the best

Keith

Craig,

If you do decide to move and need any help let me know. I can certainly help with tempory storage to back up the site while moving or configuration of the new server.

Would one of my Magic teapots help at all Craig?

Craig,

Here is possibly an even better option. They do not provide the server but have better bandwidth prices. Once again I use some of their services but have no other affiliation. Their service has been good with the exception of two power failures that have occured over the last year. I think they have that problem fixed now though.

http://www.mailbox.net.uk/services/cohosted/fulham_noc.shtml

256Kbps for £775 a year or £204 a quarter

512Kbps for £1150 a year or £302 a quarter

256Kbps / 8 = 32KBps

32 * 60 * 60 * 24 * 30 = 82GB per month @ 256Kbs or 165GB per month @ 512Kbs

They will let you send anything to use as a server. They have lots of PC towers, Macs and even a server covered in fuzzy carpet.

If you are interested let me set you up with an introduction and see if I can get a discount.

E-Mail him one now LOL!!

Rob.

We could cut things down too. Sigs no more than 10k or something, hosting vids on personal web space instead of on here, unless they ask for permission for special vids, or files over a certain size will be allowed on for 2 weeks then automatically deleted to save space. There are loads of stuff that people have posted up and the pics are still there doing nothing.

Just a few thoughts

Stuart
