Speak to Eric by contacting him through LINK - he can help get you a chip specifically tuned for your car (he is based in The Netherlands).

The politicans don't like cars!!:( or anything that has to do with cars... But yes, we do have 98 octane too. But why not 95 octance rather than 98? I do not care if I get 2 or 3 more hp on 98...

it has nothing to do with mpg.

a higher octane rating means you can run more advanced ignition = more power

But these cars are designed to run on high octane fuel, I was always under the impression running on 95 could cause long term damage.

On standard fuel maps yes there is risk of detonation. To run on lower RON ruel the ecu has to be remapped for retarded timing.

US/Canadian spec cars: 92~93 Octane

UK/Euro spec cars: 95 Octane

Japanese spec cars: 98 Octane

This is often confused with RON ratings which, depending on the way it is calculated, will result in a higher number (ie 98 Octane ~ 100RON).

MON = U.S

RON = U.K

not sure about the rest of Europe.

RON and MON are both Octane ratings

98 Ron is about 95 Mon

Anyway back to the chip. You might try contacting andyP. I know he does something with them.

thanks for the tip.

The one thing I'm worried about is that the car won't get enough fuel at high rpm and go boooom. I will rather be on the safe side.

Like I said before - contact Eric at DTA-Motorsport in The Netherlands. You won't find anyone with more knowledge on all things ZX related than he.
