Hi Peeps,

I am now on the verge of getting my AVC type R 8-).

What benefits does the AFC have. TT net talks about it a bit. I have just had SE Chip upgrade which has released my engine from it's restrictive standard ECU 8-)

I understand that the AFC basically frigs sensor readings to the ECU so you can manage your air/fuel mixture.

Is this device of some use or am I better off re-programming the e-prom in my ECU for better performance??

Eddie,

The AFC does allow adjustments to the fueling but only within the constraints of the current injectors. The chip which you have should have optimised the settings for fuelling and so an AFC will not give you more. Assuming the fuelling is now right, less fuel will give detonation and more fuel will give less power.

The other thing to think about when comparing with reprogrammed ECU is that AFC only adjusts fuelling. ECU does everything from fuelling to switching the fan on and off !

Cheers Dave for the explanation I was just wondering what they do.

Noticed on TT net last night that someone has done a basic Tech on changing the facia colour of AVCR, interesting.
