Hi all,

was on track yesterday again with my Z and for the 1st time since the rebuilt (eagle rods and Nismo crankshaft and OEM bearings) my bearings are gone...

I was running 23 psi, tha car was really powerfull but...

I don't understand what has cause this. I have the full set of Greddy warning Gauge and no alarm were reach.

My oil level was perfect, using Castrol RS 10W60.

Does the boost can create this?

really need help or I will swap the engine...

The VG30DETT with a stock oilpan suffers from oil pressure loss during hard cornering....maybe this is what killed your bearings.

If you want to use a 300ZX for drifting or track racing you will need a dry sump system or make serious modifications to the oilpan (extra baffle plates, trap doors, larger content).

There are also some positive reports about accusump systems (basically an external oil container under pressure helping oilpressure when needed)

That was what killed my new bearings too!

Yep, unfortunatly seen a couple of thrown rods from oil starvation on track. I've read about a larger baffled sump being available but cant find one.

oh shit you've put sooo much work into it, you must fix it. keep your chin up

Sure i will fix it but I would like to do it for the last time :)

I will check on the TTnet forum, they have some racing Z.

Anyway, I have a oil pressure warning gauge and had no oil pressure problems but if it's only during half a second, maybe the Greddy gauge can't read it...

That's winter so I have time.

A big oil pressure light is often a far quicker warning of loss of oil pressure, sometimes the guage takes to long to register and by then its back up again, and we dont always notice it either.... Where as the light is ON.

Oil surge killed one of my engines on a track day. I think the 200's suffer with this too

Ok so i pull the engine yesterday and like i was thinking I found the bearing #5 damaged.

What one of my friend make me think about is that it's always the #5 that is damage. Why is it like this?

It can't be the rods because I change them since last time.

Also, I installed a Nismo cranckshaft since last time too.

Any help?

Very good information Eric!

That's actually put me off running my Zed(s) on a track again :S

But realistically how likely is it to happen on road tyres? I WAS thinking about buying some sticky rubber, but that won't happen at all unless I make/buy a baffled sump.
