I have a whining clutch - the sound disappears when i push the clutch pedal down (even in neutral) but then reappears when i let go (and increases in pitch when i accelerate). Does anyone have any ideas what might be causing this?

And secondly, would it make a huge difference to the acceleration? For some reason my Z (SWB TT Manual) just doesnt feel as fast as it used to - im not sure whether this is just me getting used to the speed or could be due to the clutch.

cheers in advance!

Yer does sound like the primary bearing have you checked the oil level even though it might be a bit to late

thanks -

oil level checked - it seems OK. So if it was the bearing would it actually make a lot of difference to the acceleration or just create an annoying noise? I cant help feeling my TT isnt as fast as i remember

I have the same problem mate.. Its been with the car ever since i bought it which is about 3 years ago now and its been for countless services etc at zedworld and Jeff has never mentioned it once so im not worried :)

I wonder - do you thinbk it makes any difference to your Z's acceleration though?

Sorry to bump this (and i know its a stupid question) - does anyone have any idea about how a noisy and possibly malfunctioning clutch will affect the speed of the Z?

very unlikly. Unless it was slipping but you would know about that. End of the day once the plates are engaged as long as it doesnt slip its just basically a mechanical link.

Get your self a crappy run about and drive that for a few days, then get back in your zed and its like having it brand new all over again. Never feel slow then! :D
