:headvswal removing headlights to clean them today I stuffed some kitchen paper into top of both air intake pipes after removing the air filter and y tube so nothing would fall in there . Started pissing down halfway into the job so I started the engine to move it into the garage. Yes, you've guessed it, they've both been sucked in there :headvswal

i've tried using a bit of flex attatched to the hoover to suck them back out with no luck.

i'm almost too embarrassed to ask but where have they gone and how much damage have I done?

get them to take the rear downpipe off. You can then check for movement on turbo impeller, and check for seizure/play. They should of done that already though?

thanks again bud, just one more question. If it is possible to see in there, is it also possible to clean paper out of there with the right tools?

to be fair, the mechanic does run of the mill stuff and kind of helping me out. he may not be the brightest, but he's got a garage with a lift. :D

Hope he doesn't read this

no offence intended mick ;)

you wont be likely to remove anything from the exhaust side of the turbo, but you will be able to check wether turbo is clogged up and not opperating as it should, you can then diagnose why boost is limited. and then hopefully root further to find problem.

jesus mick you said a piece of paper towel not half the bleedin rain forest, getgreddy never used a third of that and i think thats why he blasted his out mate, you should be ok i think just labour intensive because of the design of these bassttard cars  :D

Hi mark, yes I reckon I've accounted for all the paper now. On friday it was boosting at 90% , drove a 200 mile round trip over the weekend and it seems back to normal :hyper:

Of course with the awful weather I'm a bit nervous about driving her too hard but i think whatever small bits were left have now burned off. Plenty of jokes going around a the S.C. meet, I was presented with a lot of blue tissue :D

Thanks for asking bud!

thats good news mick, iff you dont think its boosting as good as it did then remember all the pipes have been disturbed and they may need an extra "nip up" on the old jubilee clamps, give it a few weeks to settle down then go from there ;)
