My fanbelt is squeeling like a pig in an abatoir! It is not all the time, just completely random.

Most of the time it is for s second or so, other times it squeels for about a minute, sometimes it doesnt at all!

It is getting quite embarassing now so it needs sorting. What can I do? I am not "savvy" enough to jack the car up and try and tighten it, unless I have a step by step!

you can tighten up the belts. There is an explanation in the online manual. I sure someone will correct me but i think you need to tighten the altenator belt.

If you dont think your are capable you can smear a bit of light lubricate, like margerine oor vaseline on the belt which will stopping it squelling but will mean the belt "slips" so maybe not the ideal solution.

they are adjustable but not sure where it is i've never done 1 on a zed (YET) but mines squeelin aswell so i'll be finding out shortly.

its simple to do but only from under the car , slacken two bolts then tighten with the adjuster , the belt should deflect no more than 12mm i think in total ( 6mm each way )

there is a write up on the FAQ with pictures do a search ,

I have through the FAQs and done searches but cant find this thread. Have you got a link to it?

Could sprinkle talcum powder over the belts, it'll quieten the squeal, but the belt will still slip!!
