My starter motor is a bit hit and miss so decided to change it. Is this an easy fix? There are two insulated wires running down the length of the car, are they connected?

yeah it is easy to change but try hard to to do it when it is on a lifter or over a pit becuase the starter is heavy and i found it really hard work when doing it with axel stands and lying on my back or side.

i had a word with a local garage, borrowed there pit for about 1 hour when they were on lunch, cost £10 and i changed my oil and filter at the same time.

You might find its loose! There was a bolt and a nut on a stud holding mine on a they had worked so loose the starter was just hanging in there. Result was finally a broken motor flange casting with nasty noises when it tried to start. Check it before its too late to just tighten it all up again
