Turbo Question.

Hello all

Right then, really need to get my passenger side turbo out for inspection, think it is fooked, well convinced its fooked, can i get it out with the engine in, I now that you'll probably all say i need the engine out but dont really have the gear to do it, managed to get the egr out with the engine in so i suppose anythings possible right, so my question is really can it be done, i have patience and time on my side so no problem there, if it is possible will i need and " round the corner" tools to help me out.

Cheers for any advice

Dutchy.

Yes you can get passenger side out without taking engine out.

Last time I did it it took me 2 1/2 hours out, 2 1/2 hours in. I left all the exhaust side connected up (manifold, downpipe etc) and actually took the turbo apart using the 4x M8 bolts (12/13mm spanner IIRC).

When you have this turbo off make sure you inspect the block that the oil pressure sender screws into! I went thru 3 L/H turbos before i noticed this was blocked FFS!!!

Rob.

Can you get the drivers side one out aswell???

You can get the drivers side out it is a lot more involved you have to take the brake master cylinder out and just about everything else around that part of the engine bay its a nightmare the worst part is putting it back and bolting it back together not to mention trying to torque everthing back to correct torque thats impossible.

I had to cut a piece out of a ring spanner for one of the bolts.

Its a full day job
