Driving to see my Grandpa tonight and i got half way there and stopped at some traffic lights, when my car started idleing funny and running bad, then i start to accelerate and its a mixture of fine and running bad, like hesitating and coughing and spluttering - running like a bag of spanners.

So i get where i was heading and stop the car, thought maybe if i left it for a while it might go right, no such luck! Start it after about an hour and its still bad, so i know a mechanic very well and he agreed to let me leave it with him and he drove me home.

Anyway what the hell is causing this problem???? My mechanic is not a zed specialist, so any help resolving the problem will be VERY VERY Welcome!

Oh and last thing my water temp was fine the whole time however the cat converter light came on a couple of times, i think thats what it was, it looks like a double ended bottle on its side with some wavey lines on top of it.

   PLEASE HELP

I'm on holiday this week and next so I could get it sent out before dinner time tomorrow if you want a borrow. Just PM me your details if so.

Check your Temp sensor to make sure there is no corrosion on the plug. Or change the temp sensor. ( located in front of the engine on top of the water pipe.) There are 2. One has a single prong(water temp gauge signal) the other one has 2 prongs.(water temp ECU signal) If the 2 pin plug isnt making good contact it the wire then it make the ECU think the car is running hot and you will run incredibly rich and it will retard the timing.

Or

Check your ECU for codes.

Usualy the PTU isnt the culprit, its the PTU adapter harness. Also check for corrosion here.

If this doesnt help i sugest these comon things to look at

ur z chipped? I had mine chipped by a well known make, it was fine for three weeks then started to cough and splutter (although no cat lights) i changed everythin; ptu, plugs, coils you name it... anyway in the end i got hold of a Mines ECU, put that on and problem solved! looked at the old ecu, it had scorch marks where the chip was fitted... thus causing hesitation problems...just another idea mate

Thanks for the advice guys.

I'v left it with Andy Duff to sort as i believe it is a gasket leaking oil into a spark plug reserviour. And if its not - he'll sort it. :)

He's sorting a couple of other things at the same time anyway. :D

Will let you all know when the zeds perfect again. :) If thats possible. LOL
