The battery on my zed is fu*... sorry, kaput! Iv trawled through the search which bought up a thread from turboz asking the same question but in the end he did not change his so no real results. Its seems like a silly question but can any1 shed some light on what battery to use in the zed?

I have 3 amps and a carputer setup running in it so i would need more than the standard recommended one? should i just get the biggest, highest cranking and ah battery that i can fit in the hole? should i be wary about cheaper batteries...

any advice welcomed, including abuse for asking such a nob question!

Make Sure If You Do Get One The Terminals Are On The Right Side. Uk And Jap Are Different Iirc. Put It This Way Yampies Old One Won't Fit In Mine!

I know that mantav8 has fitted a Transit van battery on his . :D

Joel, go down to Motoquip in Dunmow, they have a good selection with connections on the correct sides.

UK and Jap are the same but make sure you get the correct dimensions or your battery clamp wont fit !

UK and Jap arent the same the terminals are the reverse of each other.

UK spec is an 069

J spec is an 068

You can fit a bigger battery in at a similar price eg an 096 which also fits a transit. I think the 096 will only fit the J spec as the terminals are wrong for uk spec zeds.

The CCA figures on batteries vary a great deal between manufacturers, eg a Bosch may say they have 520 CCA and a Motaquip one may claim to have 600 CCA, but if you bench tested the two the bosch would probably be higher as the big manufacturers tend to be very conservative with the figures, others tend to exagerate.

Bosch are very good batteries, having said that ive had a Platinum battery on my car for the past 5 years ans its been faultless.

If your considering a Bosch one check the prices of Varta ones too as they are both the same but vary in price.

My friend has a 92 UK car and his battery configuration is exactly the same as my 92 import. does anyone have a definative answer to this?

could be an na- tt thing then but im not going daft it deffo is the opposite way around on the two cars i have in my garage!

i'm not sure about fitement but Optima batteries are meant to be very good, well they are as i used to have one and was very happy with it.

I had a yellow top optima in my Zed, it ran 2 amps one of which was 2400rms which used to suck allot of juice. I had no additional power cap or anything so this is the battery to have.

As for fitement, it was very tight and the cable was tight. Optima make different size batteries.

This is the battery you can run completly flat and charge up and it will be fine apparently there are rumours of it being left outside for months and then being used with no problems. allot of farm machinary use them.

The red top i believe is also another good battery from optima but no personal experiance i went for the yellow top purely because it realised juice quickly when needed which is ideal for a sound system.

This has been posted many times in the past...and is incorrect!. They are the same for Jap and UK.

069 is wrong.

You want 068 for fitment.

Varley and Ultima are popular for there range of batteries, from Lightweight Race batteries to High powered Batteries for Large I.C.E installs.
