dyno result

Got the Z on a dyno today at Tuning japanese in aldershot. The engine was fine on the road but under load on the dyno it was stuttering badly. They thought the high boost might be blowing the spark out!? Anyway they change the plugs (which were a bit old anyway) for some nice cheap Greddy Iridium plugs at less than £20 each. (bargain!!!)

This helped but consequently I only managed one run out of it. 385bhp (to DIN 70020 wotever that is) 368bhp (uncorrected at engine) and 301 at the wheels. Drivetrain loss of 66.5bhp. 378 lbf-ft torque. Running 1.1bar.

Not bad but when I'm expecting 400+ it's a bit disapointing. The engine needs a good going over 'cos I reckon there's more horses in there and it needs setting up. So there's another job!. On the road it's plenty fast. More torque than a testarossa. The new plugs have made a difference on the road too (but i should f-ing hope so at that price!!!)

So Mr dyno , I'll be bach!

hasnt 1 guy just fooked an engine on one of those things.

have a look in the for sale room!plenty of his engine for sale now.ya problem might of been something to do with not enough air flow into the engine m8.

They had three BIG fans blowing air and two at the back sucking xorst fumes. But I can see how dynos can bust your engine after seeing how my Z reacted. They wouldn't do another run in case it went bang.

thats pretty much what you should expect as what are the exact mods your running?

There are a few things that limit power over 380 ie Intercoolers (shameless plug biggrin.gif) but stock units start to heat soak at about 375 bhp and that would limit you.

You have bigger injectors?

std coolers and injectors. Coolers are on the list but i'm skint at the moment.

Yeah Jay that was me, It wasn't the dyno run that blew the engine it was the twat doing it who didn't know a fucking thing about modified cars and didn't protect it just revved it up for a power run not a tuning job. When the car is back on the road again I intend to run it down to SE Nissan to be tuned properly by people who know about the Z32.
