As above I have just converted my offside reverse light to a fog light, i put some red lighting gel in the lenses and tested them up against the sun light :hyper: yep we had some sun today lol, and it works well, my only concern is that it will be bright enough.

It has a 21w bulb which is standard for a fog, has anyone else done this and if so did it pass the MOT ok as mine is due at the end of this month.

cheers

hi graham

cant say ive done what you have but ive changed out the off-side reverse to a fog and fitted a red led bulb and thats nice and bright and does the job well

cheers paul

Why didn't you just get a high powered red bulb?

I only have my rear fog working for MOT, I plug my other reversing light in usually. Don't drive the Z in the fog/winter. So have never needed using it. Got bored of people telling me one of my reversing lights was out! LOL

I think i used a normal red bulb for the fog light from memory. I have a uk tt , so got rid of a uk bumper, replaced it with a jap spec one and moved the fog light. havent lost any reverse/ brake lights either in the process and past the MOT ok with it

I will look at getting a red bulb, the only reason i used lighting gel was a last minute thing. I actually bought a fog lamp from Halfrauds, but decided it looked bloody awful, wherever you place it so did the reverse light conversion instead, but didnt have a red bulb handy.

I can easily take out the gel and convert back to a reverse light, but A: i use the car as a daily drive, regardless of weather, so made need a permanent fog light B: my rear window is a limo tint and cant see the reverse light anyway lol.

i used a red bulb plus i put tin foil inside of where the reversing lights go, it works really well, just take the centre panel out and theres two screws you have to undo to get to where the bulbs go ,jobs a goodun,

Cheers guys, for your input, will do the tin foil bit and get a red bulb tommorrow.

Isnt easier to convert inner rear lights to fogs, which mine has: mine were already done, so just think you have to put twin filament bulb holder in, to take offset pin bulbs?

I went for the easy option, I looked at doing the inner brake light conversion, but A: didnt want to fook it up B: there is still a bit of confusion about the legality with the distance of a fog lamp to the main rear lights. I even bought a relay to the rear lights, but with other work i need to do for the MOT at the end of the month and the time i have the reverse light conversion was the simplest.
