Engine tap

My engine has a slight tap when you first start it and then goes away when it warms up. Does anyone know if this is commen and what it is? Cheers

    from experience a fair proportion of vg30's do this ( soft tap tap tap from the top of the engine ) , so if its not too loud and it settles down , I wouldnt worry

    hydro lifters (tappets) bleed down overnight and they take a min or 2 to pump up again, dont worry ;)
