How much were the Z32's back in 1992 when they were new?

With the correct inflation £35000 works out at

£64,400

that adds insult to injury of just how worthless zeds are

I think over the years the price varied between about £29K to £35K. Options would have a made a difference too.

Around £35,000 I believe

Probably works out at about £50k in todays money if not more.

New car prices have hardly moved since the early nineties.

Majority of car company's have reduced costs to keep new prices low. Also, the government abolished the 10% car tax in the nineties, reducing the cost of new cars. Be surprised if it were more than 40K in today's money.

Give you an example:

My father-in-law bought a Ford Escort 1.3GL in December 1982 (Y reg). He paid £5200 for the car. It was a mid ranged model. This model had no radio cassette, no electric pack (windy windows), no power steering.

25 years later, you can buy a C segment car (Note, Focus, C4 etc) for around £9000, with far more gadgets and toys included in the price.

Anyone know how the zed compared pricewise to other similiar cars of the day?

£68,000 (irish punts) for the tt over here in 91 and £48,000 for n/a. i was driving a battered datsun urvan at the time lol. While my friends were dreaming of porsches and ferrari's my dreams were set on one car only

chewie liking the z in your sig bud looks fresh!

cheers greg, airbrushed to the max ;)

and dave, yeah that was a lot of bucks. Especially when you think over half the population was unemployed in late eighties/early nineties

Hi,

The Supra didn't appear in the UK for another couple of years after the 300ZX, as Toyota went back to the drawing board when they saw how good the Z32 was!

In the September 1993 Road Test in Autocar Magazine, the UK specification Supra TT cost £37,500 compared to £38,329 for the Mitsu GTO and £33,200 for the 300ZX....A Porsche 968 was £36,722 back then.

The 300ZX was cheaper than at the UK launch in 1990, because the UK concession had changed ownership, resulting in lower UK list prices.
