Rear Shock Removal Advice

Hi folks,

Am replacing tired shocks with kyb's. Fronts are done ok. (eventually after seized piston nuts)

Am having real trouble in removing bottom nut on rear shock. There doesn't seem enough room to get socket & ratchet on. Can't get enough grip with a ring spanner.

Has anyone got around this problem. i've looked at various write ups without success.

Have had enough for today and am going to try again next weekend.

Any advice greatly appreciated

cheers

Is the nut rounded off then, all I generally do is place the ring end (not the open end) over the nut and shock off using a lump hammer.

You could try a bit of heat on the nut, that would be my next job.

Nope not rounded, was 'lumping like there's no tomorrow' but didn't budge it.

thought there might be an easier way. May try heating 1st next time.

thanks

as he said ...try a bit of heat with monkey grip (mole grip's) ....

jay

or you could go to a garage and get some duck oil / lubricant and let them soak in it for about 24 hours!

I did that with my suspension top nuts and they came off a treat!
