New shape C70 T5se. They have one at Ryebrook for about £18K just over a yeat old. Loads of go, nice handling and the coupe becomes a convertable at the touch of a button.

Does it need to be a big car? what about something in the Focus or Golf size range, I sat in a Civic yesterday and loved the look and feel.

Save yourself 10k to spend on the Zed

I've just bought an '06 A4 Avant S-Line for 20k. It's the perfect family car IMO.

Style - Performance - Economical

Well, the 300C looks great, but is supposed to be a bit crap, whilst the X5 (X3? can't tell from that angle) is a bit of a knob's car (I think). Not really a fan of Range Rovers either, for similar reasons to the BMW. Merc is nice. Like the look of the Volvo from markzx and really like that Jag from takemetothepub.

Well so far i didnt realise i could get a 7 series for that kind of money. The a8 looks nice, we've had the Jag (nice car) and the Volvos too small. The Rovers okay, but its a bit too country gent and square, and we've had an A4 3.0l quattro and found it uncommfortable at 6'3". Thanks for the info so far.

However, its a Volvo!!!!

Whats that suposed to mean?

Have you ever driven a T5 R or a C70 T5 GT?

They are almost as quick as a standard Zed TT (quicker than most that are in safety mode) and handle much better than a standard 2+2

What they lack in HP they make up for with Torque and the build quality is as good as BMW without the nob behind the wheel factor.

If your looking for something bigger with Go, Well equiped, good handling, high residual values Try a V70 T6R 4 wheel drive 300bhp standard and the Rica upgrade ECU is just £300 plug and go £380bhp and the torque figures are staggering.

I do love the A8's the 4.2 Quatro but they plumit in value so I'd only buy a £6K 5 year old 4.2 with a gas convertion. Then spend the rest on a nice holiday.

Agreed, Volvo's are good cars. :) I'v had a T5 an older one but it was still fantastic. :)

Brown chord trousers, flat cap and driving gloves!

How the fook did you know I ware brown cord trousers and a flat cap :slap:

I've had a few brown trouser moments in my C70 T5 gt though. Ask any of the lads that went on the Nurburg run

You need deeper trousers pockets than Coco the clown to keep them on the road apparently. My lads girlfiends dad has got rid of his and bought a Ranger Rover sport because it spent too much time burning holes in his bank account whilst sitting in the Porsche Garage every few weeks.

Ha ha! I'm not saying Volvos are like that, but its the stigma same as Skoda still have even though the new cars are very good!

Only £18k for a year old T5 version??

That's damn good value - I like the new C70 Coupe/Cabrio. I have been looking at an SLK350 but they are still over £25k for a low mileage 3 year old......

Richard

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

I'm glad in many ways, because the boy racer culture will stay clear and let us that know the vurtues of the T5 R and GT range have fun without attracting too much attention from the Old Bill.

The build quality of the SLK isn't that good as well. I was really disapointed when me and the missis looked at them just before we bought her last BMW.

The hazard warning switch came off in my hand on all three we looked at and loads of little finishing bits just weren't right. Then the said it only came with one year warrenty. I asked why and the guy said "because it is a Merc".

So i told him if they were so wonderfull they should have a 5 year warrenty and promptly left and went and bought my missis a Beamer.

sorry it was the CLK we looked at and not a patch on my C70

Hi,

The trouble with BMW's and even Mercs and Audis now, is their image!

Plus they're all so common on the roads that they just blend into the motoring morass.

I would prefer a Volvo or Saab as an executive family car.Do love the ott looks of the Chrysler 300C too...especially with the Bentley style grill!

Cheerz,

Jez.

PMSL :p

I wasn't keen on the CLK either - they can't be that good as their depreciation is much higher than the SLK. They look nice but I know where you are coming from comparing it to your C70.......

I have the old shape SLK now and I have been happy with it but I realy like the new one now. They are more "sport" than "luxury" trim but nicely finished nonetheless.

Richard ;)

Tell her it was more expensive and spunk the change on the zed, loose women and ale :D
