I've decided to pull my car out from Martyn (used to be called Zen garage).

after 21 months and no sign of completion with constant promised to be finished next week, I've had enough.

I'm not even sure what is outstanding on the car but would just feel safer with it sitting on my drive way rather than many miles away.

Apparently there are only a few things outstanding on it. Master Cylinder and a few other bits, however until I get the car back or even see my car again I don't know what the extent of the outstanding work is.

With the baby due in the next few weeks and work coming out off my butt, I really don't think I will have time to get the car up and running myself.

so I have two choices:

1) Sell it

2) Find a very good mechanic that keeps to his time frames.

So anyone know of a mechanic close to Romford ?

Mate Scott who used to be the mechanic at Redline Imports in southend has started his own Jap garage. I wouldnt take a Zed to anyone else. Knows the cars inside and out to work on, done lots of work for people on here and for me, always very very happy with his work and prices.

Ask for Scott and say Nick from Canvey said to call. He'll sort you out fella

There is a chap that Mike Feeney uses, on the outskirts of Chelmsford, called Karl. May be worth a call. 07767 415804. He did a clutch for me once and I had no problem with the work.

Stu,

The bloke who re-built mine (Steve E's) seems to have done it to a very good standard, and he's just outside Maidstone - not that far away from you, bud.

If you come up with blanks with the others - let me know and I'll get his up to date contact details for you...

Best of luck with the impending birth matey! - be prepared for a bit of stress and worry (I'm sure you're experiencing that already!), followed by elation!!

Thanks Guys,

I know scott from Redline off the A127. Used him to replace an offside wheel bearing once.

For each of the guys above, can you vouch for them, do they keep to their timeframes and are they good communicators, i.e. if it's going to be late for some reason do they call you and let you know rather than you having to constantly chase them up (if you can actually get through to them) ?.

Well if you know scott dont think I really need to vouch for him but yes he does comunitate well. Even let me hang around and watch him change my auto box from start to finish one day, good guy to do business with.

And his prices and service is better than it was at Redline too :smash:

Karl just did a one day job for me. It was finished on schedule and on price. Mike Feeney may be able to tell you more or suggest others.

Stu,

I'm afraid my feedback is secondhand, but I'd rely on Steve's word (that's why I bought his car  ). It's also got a very similar set-up to yours, so there may be something in that. I'll give him a call later, to double check and see if I can glean any more info.

..

Since i got my Z at the beginning of the year i have always gone to a place called 'D2' in Rochester. Takes about 45 mins from here (Dagenham).

The guys name is Darren, he owns an NA and a TT himself.

He sorted out my broken speedo when i first got the car, no probs.

On another occasion he changed my Cam-Belt, fixed a leak on my Auto Box and changed the oil and filter for around 350 quid.

He was very helpfull, i took it in one morning. However he run into some trouble and gave us a ring at about 4 saying that he was running behind as he was having some trouble with it.

We were planning to pick it up that evening, and when he rung to let us know what was happening, he was willing to work late to get it fixed. We ended up picking it up the following day.

He even sorted me out with a few spares i needed here and there.

It's run fine ever since, and its going back to him in December for a bit more work before going to the MOT center.

I'd recommend him to anyone...

300zxy, Do you know if he's the same Darren who won awards as a Nissan mechanic - used to work for Nissan in Maidstone? In fact, fitted the sat-nav to my 350...

I know he's in the Medway area, and he does come highly recommended on mechanical know-how...

Be good to know - as I may need him too... :D

CheerZ,

JB.

I don't know mate, he's in his 30's i'd guess. He did say he worked on Z's for Nissan when they were being made so it could be?
