Stick with what you have, although it massively depends on the colour. White zeds just don't suit the stock rear lights.....

lol i accept paypal but im not sure my zeds 2 tone black and red black top and red bottom its also widearch and when ive been taking pics of it ive thought mmmm the lights look a bit small for it but just wondered what the general feel about them was ?

personaly i think stock lights look dated including 99 spec but mainly because almost every one has them, but thats just my opinion

Why not stick a picture up? :)

mmm i see what your saying its also weird how 99 spec light are around 250 quid yet you can make them yourself lol

your car :)

Stock lights are just plain nasty and completely ruin the rear end.

99spec lights look ubber cool !

As for the aftermarket round style lights, IMO they often look chav although they do suit some zeds.

You can do the DIY ones, and its a big improvement over stock but side by side with genuine 99specs and you really notice the difference.

I like that, bet you get a lot of 'err, wtfs that'

Got a long way to go with mine, only modified bit on it is a stereo upgrade :p

yea makes me laugh as they go straight round the back realise there is no badges on the back and make theyre own assumptions the best to date has to be the 2 young guys sat at a bus station who started swearing and pointing to which his mate casually turns to him and says "nah its *****x thats just an mr2 with a ferrari bodykit on it" pmsl oh i couldve pinch his little cheek for that ......the c***

I think they suit it tbh :)

still not sure i see it in that pic and think the actual lights are too small?

They do look a bit lost on the rear end there, but guess at night when they're lit they probably look very well. I'm a 99spec fan (even though mine are home made) and I wouldn't say everyone's got them, as you pointed out £250 is pretty stiff.

When somethings buggin you everytime you look at it it's time to say bye bye.

99 spec all the way mate, get a daylight pic up and see

if some of the photoshop boys can't put a set of 99's on it for you.

It's all about the standard design "trick" - or optical illusion. It's the same reason Trinny shouldn't wear vertical stripes and Susannah shouldn't wear horizontal ones. The unadorned rear end of the Zed is quite large and imposing. Stick horizontal stripes on it and that makes it look wider and lower. The standard rear end treatment has long thin lights and that black panel into which they are set and other visual cues like the spoiler and the horizontal infill in the bumper.

Take those away by smoothing or replacing the long thin lights with round ones spaced further apart and that is one reason why the rear end then starts to look bigger - the vertical is more noticeable and the whole rear looks taller.

Also, clear rears (like 99 spec) look better on lighter cars. Nothing to beat them on silver, white etc but - again using well-known visual perceptual effects - if you want the rear lights to blend into the car when not being lit, then if you've got a dark car, the pre-99 red/amber will be less obtrusive that the 99 red/white. Or smoke them if you want to make them really subtle.

thats weird because its the pic of yours that made me think mmmmmm just looked at the newer z center lambo lights but im not keen on them either will have to post a pic with new lights on when they get here

Which pic's that mate?

Your rear end (pardon the familiarity :D ) does use some of those visual cues to reduce the "fatness" appearance. Because of how you've done the two-tone, there's a thin black panel and below the bumper, there's that other dark strip between the exhausts - so it isn't as imposing as if it was all red. If you were after making the rear end look lower and, to an extent, wider, then putting the accent stripe back and maybe another one where the bumper has been smoothed into the rear would do that. But that would work against the smoothed look you've already created. All design is a balance of ideas and engineering is the art of compromise.

Thank god for photoshop so you can try things!

oops sorry guys i meant the sig in chewies post yes i see what your saying on the accent side of things but the only way now to reproduce them would be to use pin-stripes lol but the look in actually after and this may sound odd but is standard modified if that makes sense basically ive always loved the look of the cars but always wanted alittle bit more individual so god knows why i put that pannel in im also coming round to thinking that it may also have something to do with the fact i was in my early 20"s when i started it and now well im alot older now and oddley i think that may have a big part in it well ill try and get a side by side pic together asap

I personally think it looks good as it is. Maybe if you went for a slightly different design for the round rear lights like in my sig pic i think the three light set up looks better than the two, but then i would coz i got 'em lol
