Second picture, bridge the two hoses coming from the engine :) Ignore any lines in the first pic - they're the aircon gas lines.....

Trace the pipes that come from the bulk head take off the small pipes then the two pipes that are engine side connect with a bigger pipe the second pic is one of the pipes hope its clear only know this as mine was like it

Hi Mate you have to connect the 2 big silver pipes that come up the back of the engine together. They are the 2 that have a 90 bend to the O/S of the car and both your Matrix hoses from the bulkhead are attached to.

its 21mm water hose by the way...odd size but anything less and you'll be faffing around for ages trying to force them on

PMSL by the super rapid responce you can tell its a common problem

OK thanks for that guys. What size pipe do I need to get to do it?

Just going to spend a while looking at the nice shinny engine above.

21mm dude ;)....as posted above

Cheers mate. Was dazzled by the shinny engine above.

I wasn't sure about putting it back in the engine bay or to just keep it on the engine stand as a feature in the lounge.

Oh Yes I'm sure I used 19mm bore when I did Get Greddy's. You want the reinforced Samco. The stuff that looks like its bound with tape as it will not kink when its hot.

Just having a go at this. How do I get the old pipes off? Can I just cut them or do I need to keep them in one piece for use with the new matrix.

all the best adam

OK. Managed to do this. Took a bit longer than it perhaps should of but got there in the end.

Quick right up.

Firstly easier with 2 and if you have someone with small hands and the grip of a vice it is even easier.

Managed to get the original tubes off the metal pipes and keep them intact. The easiest way is to try and fit and openended spanner over the meatal pipe and then tap it with hammer and screw driver.

Bought a metre of 19.1mm pipe from halfords. Infact only used about 150mm in the end as sleeving.

The thing I found best to use was a reinforced pipe as you need to bend it in a U and if it isn't reinforced it just kinks. (see post above by markzx) Now I couldn't find any of that in halfords so went into B&Q with the intentions of using 22mm copper. Found instead a 22mm cooker hose. Now it was £19 but has done the job really well and the 19mm pipe fits over nice and snug with a jubilee clip.

Fitted the right hand one first (looking from front of car) and then ran it round the back of clutch fluid pot and back to the left hand one. Fill up with water and job done.

Only thing now is, left it running for a good 5 mins and nothing got hot, the needle didn't move, the engine didn't feel hot so I guess it is working.

Will have to take for a spin to find out.

Cheers for all the help guys.
