billys bestest buys!! lol

I wouldn't risk buying something as critical as a clutch off ebay. I'm not saying everything is crap but you get what you pay for (generally).

Have a look at our RPS clutches - these are tried and tested and generally considered to be excellent value for money.

WHAT IS RIGHT FOR ME PLEASE.

i WOULD GUESS AT ABOUT MAX 300 TO 350BHP

THOSE PRICES ON WEBSIT LOOK STEEP.

i WAS JUST LOOKING AT A 125CC TRIALS BIKE BRAND NEW FOR 500 QUID AND THEY ARE ASKING THAT FOR A PRESSURE PLATE AND CLUTCH DISC.

YOU MAY BE RIGHT ABOUT PAYING YOUR MONEY BUT ARE WE REALLY GETTING THAT GOOD A DEAL?

Its not that RPS are expensive, its that those ebay clutches are cheap.

Heard plenty of stories of cheap clutches purchased of ebay slipping straight away with standard power.

Stock clutch will start slipping once boost is increased. You would want the RPS sport clutch.

True, but once again its from traders selling clutches who "Find" these storys of cheaper producs being rubbish.

I've yet to see one post from someone on here who has actually bought one and said dont bother its crap.

Now I'm not saying the traders are lying just that its nice to hear it from the horses mouth rather than a story from a mate of a mate who once met this guy who.......

Purly for peice of mind I'd go with the RPS from a trader myself, but if you fancy trying your luck with an ebay cheapy, please please please post up if its good or bad! :duffer:

thanks for the comments folks it does make for an interesting read.

please don't think I'm trying to penny pinch or start arguments but as previous automotive engineer I fail to see how a clutch mechanism can cost more than a brand new motor bike.

yes there are mass produced but the hours to build materials etc etc just don't seem to compare with a straight forward clutch with stiffer pressure plate.

the last comment is of most interest. I wonder just how many have boought one of those clutches and are not too embarresssed to say it did not work out. check this one out from the states.

they claim it can hold 480bhp

I've posted on american zx forum to try and get those horses mouth responses as I think it would be good for all.

You have hit the nail on the head.

Performance parts are way too expensive over here, its good old Rip OFF Britain. And yet people still pay the prices, and others still keep telling us how good the value is.

well ive got an RPS clutch and a fidanza flywheel and its great, cant comment on the ebay one's but i can comment on the RPS one, i bought it from smithy

My car runs an xtd paddle clutch from the states.Im putting 440bhp through it and its never let me down and ive done 600miles on it.cost me £160 to my front door!!.

Heard plenty of stories of cheap clutches purchased of ebay slipping straight away with standard power.

Stories????

What we need is facts. Ie .... how many people have bougt a clutch from Grip-force clutches and found it to be no good.

according to their Ebay info they have sold 26000 items with 100% feedback.. Thats a lot of happy punters some of whom seem to be in Europe.

Huge volume purchasing usually means big discounts. Many Ebay sellers work from very cheap nondescript premises. And they are willing to work on very small % mark-ups.The US has a huge "cheap labour" market to tap in to for pickers and packers in warehouses. UK companies even as large as Nissan UK simply cannot compete

could someobody on here make this ito a poll where you can submit a vote to say where you got a certain clutch and how you rate it.

off course it's not truely scientific as people could vote without actual experience but you have to give benefit of doubt.

personally I agree with some of the comments on here. The UKs a rich country but we are certainly exploited with tax after tax etc here.

anyhow backto the clutch isse else this thread will get out of hand.

if you can make a poll or submit a reply with a comment on a clutch you have bought please do.

all the best

Paul

the 2nd link (southbend) is a good tried and tested clutch sold by a well known reputable seller. Not heard of the 1st one...and the 3rd one as mentioned is oem spec.

I have also used the XTD paddle clutches in a few ZX's with no problem's whatsoever, had them delivered to my door for under £150!! but as ever prep is important, I always ensure the flywheel surface is 100% and then give careful consideration to the bed in period, a lot of people don't bother with a proper bed in period and hence why the clutches can fail early...

Buy the third one!!!

But i would say that as i work there!!

OOh look they've got cambelt kits, hicas arms and ball joints in their ebay shop!! I bet they have even got rads, filters, and brakes in stock too!!!

....cue the delete police!! :x:

The XTD stage 3 clutch you put in mine seems pretty good Lee, it can get a little judder sometimes especially when it gets hot ie in traffic but the real test will be when I get the GT675RS turbos fitted

ive got an f1 6 paddle clutch from 'gripforce' and soon to have their lightend flywheel aswell. A mate of mine does alot of trade importing clutches flywheels etc from 'girpforce' and has had no problems with the products so far!
