Foot wide wet spot in the works car park today :( When car is running I only get a drip every 4-6 seconds.

When I took the filler cap off there was plenty of pressure?

Anybody ever tried/recommend any chemical fixes if they exist.

Cheers

you need to find where its coming from and to be honest it would be just as easy to fit a good second hand one than try and repair it IMHO

Cheers Paul, Its coming from underneath one of the straps but after searching the sales section they go for under 50 notes so not too bad, would want some more straps though.

Problem is I had an arse of a time replacing the strap ossosite the filler cap side and that looked the easiest, lol

Definately another good second hand one needed i tried to use some special fuel tank putty, start messing and the whole gets bigger and more holes apear as you clean up the surface!

Just to back up what the others are saying, you can get a petroleum resistant mastic that is mainly used in the aircraft industry for internal fuel tanks. Problem you will have is that for any mastic/putty filler to last any length of time, it will have to be applied to the inside of the tank so that the pressure dont blow it out. As the others have said, far easier to replace.

there is a plumbers putty cant rember the name but it is red and gray in a stick you brake of a piece and mix the two together it goes off like steel drain tank and vent clean and put on two coats it wont leak if done right good luck

again not worth the risk its not that bad a job, compared to some cars iv had to remove one from
