Now i have seen a few posts on here saying: To get the engine out took the good part of a morning, or spent the day taking the engine out. :(

Ive just spent the second day on it and i still need to seperate gearbox and then disconnect the wireing loom and then lift the engine out. Hard graft.

Respect to you 300zx gods :duffer:

well done, should be my time soon is it a git of a job

Not really. It took me quite a bit of time to get out. Only problems I had was getting the gearbox out, just wouldn’t budge. I then realised it was because I had not pulled the dipstick pipe all the way out  . Then its just loads of fiddly things to remove and make sure everything is disconnected when lifting engine out.

Probably take me a month to put back in lol :wack:

for future paul if you dissconected the convertor via the 4 stubby 14mm bolts through the acsess hole, the box would of slipped out like a bar of soap in a prison shower :wack: :p

when your putting it back in fit the torque convertor back on. You can refill the convertor with some fluid before refitting, not sure if thats vital but cant do no harm, when you drop the engine in position you will find it will line up easy compared to having to squeeze the convertor back on the splines.

not a critism just tip bud :duffer:

manual's are more tricky to line up as you need to have a perfect aligment, in respect to the layshaft.

got my auto box out very easy out of my red zed but there just seems so many pipes and wires on a zed. i was thinking of converting the zed to a manual at the same time how hard is this

You guys are pretty slick at taking engines out I gotta say

I have a TT manual and remove the gearbox every time I remove the engine, but are you guys removing the gearbox?

Can the engine be removed with manual gearbox still in place?

it can be done either way but if you have a big enough crane then i prefer to leave the box fitted as we find it easier and much quicker :)

if you take the engine and box out together do you still take it from above?
