we have got a firewall at work that blocks certain websites. It blocked the obvious stuff; porn, gambling, downloading, etc but it has started to block other things like youtube, the facebook, myspace, all internet radio, etc. We used to be able to get passed it by using http://www.cooltunnel.com but that also got blocked. I understand cooltunnel is known as an anonimyser so i searched for more on google (thankfully not blocked....yet!) and all ones i found were called 'proxy' something or other and were all blocked presumably because everything with proxy in the webaddress is assumed to be a anonimiser.

Does anyone know of any similar sites like cooltunnel that can get me into youtube etc.

Obviously it is a bit tight of them blocking all these. Cant see the problem if you are looking in your lunch break etc and i think one of the trade unions advised companies that workers should be able to look at the facebook in their lunchtime.

Oh and you're wasting their bandwidth....

they will live they have got the money to purchase more lol

Lol, how dare they ask you to actually work rather than browse web Sara.

Its easy - just ring up I.T. and demand they unblock them sites so you can carry on browsing at your leisure

I am happy to report that Stevie's method has worked for me. I had an issue yesterday with my home computer timing out before i got to work and was able to connect. Maybe when the screensaver / Low-power thing cuts in. I solved it today by putting the kitchen timer on the mouse pad set to half way through how long the journey takes from home to work so it would go off and stop it going into screensaver.

Dont know why Stevie doesnt want to mention it on here as it seems 100% legal but PM him if you want more details.

I might even indulge myself in a game of Football Manager if i get really bored at work today!

yeah watchout re passing firewalls...my pal did the legal HR at a large water co and they were sacking @ 10 people a week on this issue

on a milder note i read a story about a large company who had spent @ £200k each year on blocking staff access to the web......so much so that eventually no-one could access it..they used internal email as well...and their web site was outsourced....someone pointed out if there is no access anymore why they hell are we paying a security consultant £200k...:D
