Has anyone ever managed to get hold of 'Trader of the year 05' yet? Seems that as soon as 'Trader of the year 05' sold you that f*cked engine, he buggered off. Lost all contact with EVERYONE to do with 300zx.co.uk including long term friends etc.

Sorry to hear you're still having problems with it. Best off buying a second hand engine and rebuilding it to a good spec IMHO then do an engine swap.

not that i know of but i don't know. I expect if people did know they wouldn't say on here as i know he has a lot of enemies now. Personally i think he's a nob, but thats my opinion. I just want a decent engine. Anyone got one :-(

2 weeks 'til "superduff" is there ;)

Let's hope the garage is right then. I had that problem once years ago when a core plug popped on a Rover SD1, it pissed water straight through, cost about 30p to fix tho :)

i thought you meant the film chech and chong TOP FILM :p

sorry to hear about your troubles bud, hope it gets sorted.

I would suggest that no you shouldn't drive it. Years back I had a core plug go on my bike which was due to not having any anti-freeze in the coolant but you need to ask yourself why the core plug on your car went. I'm guessing there must be allot of pressure in there somehow. I might be wrong in saying it but they don't normally just fall out they are there for safety reasons.

Take it to someone in the know, Jimmer, Duffer etc. Once it's sorted, you'll forget you ever had any dealings with 'Trader of the year 05'. :)

thats probably a good idea allan. If thats ok with others. I can drive short distances. Does duffer do engines as well?

What could cause the pressure? Head gasket?

Its mainly engines I do lol. Not a problem us coming to you :)

Pressure could be caused by HG failure yeah but I can test for that :)

Cheers,

Was it corroded or just popped out?

Just replace it with a new one they are so cheap?

I have had 3 rust out before on a previous engine.

to be honest i have a feeling its head gasket. Maybe engine is just looking for the weekest point to blow. Duff im going to pm you mate

sorry to hear yr troubles bud :(

well atleast mine is driveable but smokey lol.

plus duffers to the rescue :) .

cheers garry

mate if its a hole through the middle it is more likely due to corrosion, if it was pressure related it would have pushed the plug out, and to be honest I doubt whether the coolant system could get to the kind of pressure required to push a plug out, the cap should have gone first then the next weekest links got to be hoses.

seen a few leak due to corrosion and is usually an indication somebody has been running the engine without any anti-freeze or anti corrosion mix in the coolant.

get a new plug in it, if youve got to strip parts of to get to it it may be worth doing any other core plugs in the area saves stripping it all back down again at a later date.

PS i have seen instances of core plugs pushed out of a block, but these were always instances where no antifreeze was being used and the coolant froze solid.

well its been losing water for a little while but obviously not this bad. When a garage refills the water if they are looking for a leak would they use anti freeze

no probably just filled it with water to check for the leak, the corrosion would have occured previously though, possibly been eating away slowly over the years.

If it is just a corroded plug, provided youve not been running the car low on coolant and caused overheating, you should get away with only replacing that.

if it helps i have some new core plugs if you want them LOL

also ossian is correct, theres no way a core plug would have a hole it it unless its seriously corroded whih has nothing really to do with who, where etc supplied the engine.

also just to add, i know for a fact that no one has seen or heard from mr nolan, i tried to contact him last year but without success and i was a friend of his :(

to be honest bud i would seriously think of starting again with a new car, break yours up to get some of your money back and buy one thats decent to start with, theres plenty around, your just wasting money after money on what is if your honest a pretty crap 300zx to start with. sorry if that sounds harsh but i'm just thinking of you and your pocket bud

either way he had still sold me a busted engine to start with. I know he's your friend but i feel you sometimes try to protect is name. There is a lot of people who feel the same way i do because they got crap stuff too. He also persuaded me to go with him rather than breakers on the board etc. Either way it doesn't really matter now. Maybe i should just go for a new zed but i really want to see this one right.

I would appreciate the plug if you don't mind mate. They'd at least keep me going. Pm me if you don't mind me still taking them bud

trust me matey i'm not protecting him in any way but as you know its not quite as clear cut as he sold you a duff engine (sorry duffers) but as you said it matters not anymore its what you do from now on. i just think that once your looking at a rebuild and to put things right which your not going to see much change from 2-3k so i think you would be better plowing that money into a better zed to start with, just my opinion bud but pm me your address and i will stick the core plugs in the post
