I don't think it's much fun having to spend £15 to do something that no one enjoys

I still think if you haven't been a member you get nothing for nothing but it feels like kicking someone when they are down making them re-sign for a year to try and sell to a fellow enthusiast!

Should the club let lapsed full members sell their cars for nowt? 22 members have voted

i have to say i voted yes.

reason being, if someone has been a long standing member and the time has come to sell on, due to changing circumstances then it would be a nice final gesture.

Try to keep the decent models with the enthusiasts.

However what i would not want to see is folk signing up just to flog a car, a lot of positive impact must have been made by that member including long term subscriptions

I will let this run for now, but if it gets out of hand then it will be closed and moved to storage.

although it would be a swine to monitor, moderate and please all, i should imagine

Where do you draw the line? 1 year? 2 years? 3 years? 1 post, 2 posts, 3000 posts?

thats the only thing that would be a problem.

Exactly! Much easier and fairer if you simply say ALL OR NOTHING! Its not like advertising on here isn't going to increase the final sale price by AT LEAST 15 bloody quid is it!

Hmmm I'm looking for a 300ZX where should I look.... Corsa forum? Nah, How's about 300zx.co.uk.... ;)

Of course ex members should pay, It's only £15 ffs! That's bugger all.

Autotrader charge £20 for one week for a basic add.

Lots of people post lots of links to ebay on here you just have to do a search to see that!!!

Check for yourselves people lots of non members cars and parts being 'advertised' for free!!!

Rob

I must maintain I did not mean to cause trouble when I posted my link....on reflection I should have perhaps asked for permission.

Sorry

Rob

I voted no also as i feel people advertise on here looking to get more money for their 300zx, becuase the people on here are generally willing to pay more as they tend to be amoured by the cars. I think you should pay £10 to advertise a car on here and they money go straight to a charity.

I think if you wish to use the site to sell anything you should pay your subs. If you intend to leave after a while of being a paid member then you should have thought about it before your membership lapsed.

At the end of the day its a full members privilage to be able to sell on here and if you havent paid the subs you aint any longer a full member?

Without getting into an arguement, that may be so. However, the links to ebay that are usually posted are not by the individual concerned so no profit to be made in posting them....

what pisses me off too, is folk who pay subs dont bother with the club but use it to flog all their parts when they want to break a zed and make a few quid, that really riles.

but it irelevant, one of those things and not much can be done i guess!

Nothing was advertised just a link posted for those interested to click on just like many links to ebay before it......all this because I was honest enough to say it was my own car .

And they say honesty is the best policy....

Here here. Well said mate. Normally its one member helping all the others by doing a little bit of research for all to see.

more like ripping the fook out of the cars in the links lol!!

Putting the link on here though dramatically increased the chances of more votes so in a way, yes, it was an advertisement

trouble is is that if you have to pay again to sell your zed it might put people off and then the car could be sold to a nugget who will crash or break it at least if they can sell it on here it could go to a zed enthusiast what about a small payment for non subscribed members even ebay will charge a few quid to sell a car just a thought

i voted yes, im sure badger when he put up his link to e-bay thought he was doing the community on here a favour by notifying us of a z for sale at a good price.

what was the original idea behind the rule that only subscribed members could sell on here?

i think in some ways we are limiting our access to maybe some nice cars that may come for sale outside the club,

as regards paying some people dont like the idea of joing a club, yet would pay more for say an add in a paper

at the end of the day subscribed seller or not its down to the buyer what they choose to pay, and as with anything buyer beware,

IMO. putting a link up by a former subscribed member isnt really selling on the site is it. The title in that case is a bit mis-leading? In which case and under those circumstances I would say yes let them do so. There could be benefit if the seller where to be officiallly asked to mention the club within their advert? That might draw the new onwer if not from here to join.

No this was just another audience to join in with the bidding! Who says it goes here or to an outsider? Say someone on ebay sees it and starts bidding, then a link is put on here and someone else starts bidding, if they both really want it then the bids will keep going up! Putting the link on here only serves one purpose, to increase the final sale price! FFS its not like we don't have our own access to ebay anyway is it!

The bottom line is:

Subscribed members pay £15 every year for the privilidge of being able to buy and sell on this forum. No one is saying a former member should re-subscribe, that decision is his. He can pay through Ebay or pay through the Autotrader if he wishes. If he is a member of a car club, he can choose to advertise it on their website. Unfortunately, he isn't a subscribed member of this club.

How can it be any clearer than that??

As for any other registered user who decides to advertise on this forum, the moderators will, if seen, act in the same way. Also, if any club member sees an unauthorised for sale thread, they should notify a forum moderator or Committee member with the details.

We have to be consistent here, so we need your help.

Sorry if this seems unsympathetic towards former members but rules are rules.

I am now going to close this thread because TBH, it's not up for discussion/debate. The rule is in place to protect the club and give maximum benefit to our paying members.
