Ive upped my boost, now what have i got to watch for?

Ive chipped my manual TT and wound the boost up, the car has a little over 100,000 miles and has ran fine all day since its been done, however, i have noticed my engine oil temperature on average has crept up about 5 degrees celcious, is there anything else i should know or look out for now im running higher boost than standard...???

yes. your wallet

Do you think 15psi is a little high for my car?
You should be ok with that but as Andy said a standard clutch won't last long.

you say i have to watch my clutch, is this only a threat when launching my car from a standstill and eratic gearchanges, or is the clutch now in a constant danger with the upped boost...?

A stock clutch will lunch itself pretty quickly running higher boost. It's the extra torque the motor produces that will kill it.

mines been fine and I've done a few quarter mile runs.

yeah but when paul got that car it had just had a new standard clutch fitted, paul didnt use the car much and didnt really thrash it, so it will last a bit longer than a car that has done 100 000 miles

Other cars coming up at you a lot quicker! :wack:

If you're going to be driving hard it will get hot, keep an eye on the gauges and fluids. But a permanent solution is a big oil cooler.

Your clutch maybe ok, just drive it for a while and see.

Mine was slipping for a while when I upped my boost, but as soon as I realised, I drove it more gently and it actually lasted quite a while.

If it goes get an uprated one that can handle more power. Then you can really enjoy launching it!

HTH

will it still kill it if i take my time whilst using the clutch ???

Just be gentle with it and it will last a while. My stock clutch was slipping on stock boost, but I nursed it for quite a while before I found time to change it!
