Just been looking through there and found a few items seem to be for sale which have already been "sold" and paid for by some pretty pissed off (understandably) members.

It doesn't look good for the club and it's visitors. How often does this go on? At the moment i'm awaiting delivery of something I paid for weeks ago and i'm getting messed about. I don't want to mention names as of yet, but i'm beginning to feel even more worried now after reading some of the threads where people are getting ripped off. I understand it's impossible to check on private sellers. it's left to trust and goodwill. Over the years i've bought and sold items from very decent members with no problem.

If you think about it it would be quite easy to come on here, subscribe for a few weeks , advertise some expensive parts get paid for them and then f*ck off with the cash. It's a pity there isn't another payment system.

Sorry to bring this up but couldn't help it

Thing is with that as a member i might come to sell something in good faith, having never sold before, however i have no feed back, so folk dont buy off me even though its in good faith.

Have you informed the committee?

Yes I did and Shunter also tried to contact the person without any luck, well actually he just ignored the both of us, and then another committee member ask this person if he could run the barbecue at the AGM.

then imho this person should not be allowed to post any other items till its resolved, however the liability should not lie with the club for the item not recieved imho

good time to squate teh debt then :)

Well I suggest you re-read my post again! The for sale section is basically a (free) advertising section which the club is the publisher of, and no publisher can be held responsible for adverts placed by third parties.

I don't know the details of the fraud you've been the victim of, but if it was a member on here, the police are one simple phone call away - fraud is a crime, and it's the polices responsibility to investigate, not an internet car forum's! If you don't like the fact, then don't buy from the forum - it really is as simple as that.

Obviously, once the police have investigated, you can pass the outcome to the committee and they can then ban the user if they see fit. The people who donate their time to the club can't be judge and executioner, basing their decisions on one random person on the internet saying they have been ripped off by/ mis-sold good by/ not happy with quality etc etc from another random person on the internet!

What happened in the Graham Foley case then, he was reported to the police and they were not interested, just made a note I think. Its a bit like telling them that someone broke your window, they nod and say thanks for reporting it. You say that the club cannot get involved but I would hope if the aforementioned person reappeared on here selling goods, they would jump in to stop it. You have to remember that this is a 'club' which should have some loyalty attached to being a member, or are you saying that the membership fee just covers free advertising and allowing fraudulent activities. Any outsider reading this would be appalled.

I think the classifieds should be removed, then there will be no problems, there are lots of places if you want to sell things or buy things.

Not at all there are a lot of honest, good members and i for one have been very grateful of the sellers on here, why penalise the majority because of the minority?

I also think the we should not advertise garage services on here as it seems you get as much publicity and less crap if your not advertised trader. I personally have no faith that any problem on this forum either with a selling member or an official trader, can be sorted by the committee. Its a case of using the law and the courts to get anything done.

^^^ worst idea ever.

2nd worse, the worse one was when i suggested to you when you were on the vauxhall forums, to pop along here.

I do not know what the answer is to non supply by club members apart from taking court action as I have done to recover my money. I have obtained a judgement against this person now and if my money and court costs are not paid within a certain time, I will then request bailiff action which will certainly cost him dearly as it will increase his costs by about another £170. I hope he reads this as he has responded in this thread. I hope he also knows what effect a judgement will have in future.

yes because the committee do not have any weight legally, they are not contract lawyers, they are like me and you.

That does not mean that genuine, honest people should not be able to sell parts in good faith beacuse a few fooktards have done the wrong thing.

You are hilarious as well as being a prune.

I have bought and sold parts on here with no probles so far, but there seems to be an increase in the amountof people having major problems and loosing lots of money, i was thinking it would be in the clubs best interests to remove the classifieds as its no good reading for newbies.

Why not just have a ratings system. Removing the classified section is against the club's interest. Many people are drawn to it because of the fact that they can either get the right car or the right part.

I have to disagree, i really do, its a very valuable source for parts, i do think only proven members should sell, not just folk that sign up to shift stuff, that have given no benefit to the club but are merely using it for a way to get cash off folk.

I see so many names of people that give naff all to the club just use it for personal gain. Maybe not be able to sell till a certain amount of posts have been made, its not much but it might mean the seller has a proven track record of interest beforehand.

Thing is thats life there are always people who want to rip you off, as with any transaction with strangers, you must aire caution

:duffer:

That reminds me. I must post off those lights.

Darrell

I guess it would be impossible but i think a lot of problems stem from the fact that after the initial For Sale post the rest of the transaction is all done through PM, I guess it would be near impossible to make sure all dealing were on the public forum so everybody knew what was happening. I'm as guilty as the rest for selling things via pm.

It Would Seem That Everyone Wants A Piece Of The Action At The Moment And Each Member Is Selling Multiple Items As It Seems Everyone Is Breaking Their Car!

As Ive Already Said, If A Person Has Failed To Meet Thir Side Of The Bargain They Should Be Blocked From The Classified Section And Any Further Selling. It Takes A Couple Of Days To Send Something For Example. If Its Not Received After A Month Then The Committee Should Be Informed And That Person Prohibited From Selling Anymore Items Until The Issue Is Resolved.

i cant believe there's even mention of removing the For Sale section!!?!? a car club is probably the best place to get parts for an otherwise rare car. why let the minority spoil it for the majority as is usually the case? why dont we ban all 300ZXs, thatll solve the problem... no ban all cars and roads... no... etc.
