My car has just been deemed a write off by a third party insurer and they have valued the zed (Which i bought 3months ago for 5500) at 1500! How crap! Does anyone know if I can use advertisement off of this site as examples of value?

I have no doubt that you can refer to any advertisment to show the value, ask them where they get the info from because it wont be in glass' guide.

 

A few years ago I had a sierra 2.0 injecton and I paid £550 for it. I had it for 3 months and some young lad that was being chased by the old billin a nicked car hit my car and wrote it off. I ended up with £50. and there was nothing I could do about it.

i would seriously contest that. obviously they dont have a clue. its not an every day run of the mill car, so they may not know how to value it correctly anyway.

 

get some prices of others such as in autotrader, ebay, plus any other you can find. i had one company try to do this to me, the top book value on mine was £1400, they gave me £800, i got in touch with the ombudsman and had a cheque for the remainder sent out within a week.

 

DONT LET THEM FOB YOU OFF.

Good thing is, only going to cost £1700 to have everything put right with brand new parts but can cut that to £1400 with a second hand wing.

You need to print off as many prices as you can from different sources with a very similar spec.

 

So club cars would be good in for sale section, Auto Trader, Exchange mart. etc etc.

 

Try Keighley trade centre for prices as they have a couple of Zeds.

 

If you only bought the car a few months can, do you have any reciepts? or can show them a bank statement prooving how much you spent on it? ok a car can depreciate £4000 in a year but we are talking about brand new cars NOT 10 year old cars which may loose £0-500 obvisuly depending on how many miles you clocked up in those 6 months and condition it is in to when you bought it. Go and kick some nuts, they take the piss and never accept the first offer as they will try and get away paying as little as possible.

Don't forget to try Z Club also.

I do have receipts yeah, hope they accept them. Ive found quite a few mint condition Zeds over 5k so hopefully ill get minimum of 4k back.

I have just been thru insurance after my z was written off, I pulled up all z from this site of people selling them in the past, same year etc, asked for £5,000 and got it. Also few on auto trader too. I brought up ones between £4k- £7k. Give that a try mate, worked for me :)

my first Z was written off twice, me mam borrowed it when I was out on the lash to put the lottery on and opened the door without looking :xxx: ended up with a bent door and wing, the coachworks that the insurance company sent it to said it needed £3.5k of work so the insurance company offered me £850 as it was a G reg car, I got in touch with jeff at zedworld and he sent a letter stating what the vehicle was worth then with me being a mechanic I suggested to the insurance company that if they supply money for parts and painting I would fit them myself, while this got sorted I ended up needing an operation on my left ankle to remove a metal plate and 5 screws from a previous injury, once out of hospital and on the sick with a knee high cast on my leg I found an old trainer and slit the back of it so I could fit it over my cast, fitted a second hand door and wing, 90spec front bumper, quad rear lights and had enough left over for a re-spray. looked gorgeous but 3weeks later it was destroyed due to over-enuthusiastic driving and heavily worn rear shocks.

Does Jeff still post here? Only one member on this forum has seen my car and he wouldnt be in a position to state value.

 

lisaf - do you still have any of those prices? Most expensive one I have found is 6k..
