I know the is a guide some where but i was thinking about removing all interior trims from the boot and boot lid, carpet, spare wheel, rear seats. and fitting light weight front seats. So pretty much any trim in the rear will be coming out along with seats.

Would the rear end be too light for the car and suffer from traction problems?

Stripping weight is important but i then don't want the car to suffer from a traction problem, the rear end will be running 295's to help things. and it will be running a fair bit more than stock bhp.

I want to fit bucket seats anyway and slam the car so i probably wont be able to get anyway in the back anyway so what's the point in having all that extra weight for no reason.

I want to strip as much weight from the car where i can. and no the air con is staying lol. :wack:

Also a roll cage, do these make any difference as in diffening up the car to improve handling or are they purely cosmetic a look at me thing?

omg check my typos, yikes....

I feel dooopid now.

Differening haha, i made a new word :), like my use of anyway, anyway that's enough ner ner.

I ran a stripped out car on the track, and tbh it wasn't a major problem, although the back was a little looser.

A roll cage will stiffen things up slightly, but it's really a safety thing - I spun off a pretty fast (90odd) bend, through the gravel and into a wall - all felt fine until my mate told me how close I was to flipping it... rollcage is definitley being fitted before I go on another trackday. It's even more important with bucket seats and a harness as they prevent your head from tilting down from the roof if you roll, so your neck will take a full impact if you land on the roof.

I know it sounds far-fetched, but it's much easier to roll a car than you (or at least I) thought.

Move the battery back to behind the passenger seat (lower and moves weight rearward). Fit an NA rear end (assuming you have a TT) they're 50 kg lighter and can still handle 400 HP (providing you don't abuse it). Ditch the air con.

yeah, i have seen some pics.

I wont be taking in on track much and would take it fairly easy. So in my case a roll cage is pointless as i could stiffen the car up other ways. plus it's adding extra weight after stripping some out.

Cool, i'll give it a go then with a stripped out rear, plus it will give me that extra lil poke while running it in as i can't thrash it so the weight factor will make it feel a lil faster.

You should retain correct weight distribution.

My slicktop is just over 100kg lighter so far (without removing any interior trim), but the weight has been removed evenly from the front, centre and rear, with slightly more taken from the front. I've not fitted the NA subframe and Diff yet but I have rear roll cage to go in too.

Will be going on weighbridge in the next couple of weeks, should see a KG weight figure in the upper 1300's

The Garage i think is fitting the batter in the boot.

When you say Na rear end what do you mean by that?

As i will be getting a Uprated Diff at some point which should hopfully be lighter.

Lol i can't it has to stay i get travel sickness.

Cool, what sort of things have you removed then?

Cool weighbridge, that sounds good idea, no idea where i would find one.

I could but a household scale under each wheel haha.

Of the top of my head -

Front :

Aircon - Pump, Radiator, Reciever, Bracket and pipes

EGR

AIV

Lightweight battery

Lightweight Pulley

hicas solenoid and pipework

Centre :

Lightweight 1 piece prop

Lightweight Seats

Rear

Spoiler

Spare wheel

Tailgate weight

Tool kit

Wiper

Aerial

NA read end means The NA rear differential (which has shorter gear ratio too) with complete subframe and driveshafts.

The two key areas for weight removal are Unsprung weight and drivetrain weight. So items to consider such as Lightweight wheels. pulleys, props etc have key advantages.

Cool that's handy thanks, done the unsprung weight and drivetrain then.

Is the NA rear end just as strong as the TT except from the Diff as i know they can't handle as much power.

Seats are next on the wish list, tell lie they are after Exhausts. I can't find any information on the weight of them though.

someone else is saying 22lbs after reading this i'm getting the impression they are un comfortable and sit lower, i'm a short arse i might not be able to see where i'm going lol.

Definately not as strong but if you don't abuse them they will handle 400 horseys. The lower ratio diff means faster acceleration but at a cost of top end speed.
