Windscreen wipers - not as boring as it first sounds !

Has anybody, or does anybody know how to modify the windscreen wiper control system such that it will perform a single sweep ?

Intermittent is OK, but sometimes a single sweep is all that is required. Using the washers creates several sweeps, the last of which is always unnecessary.

I guess it's closely linked but it always annoys me that it does a final sweep when you turn them off too - if I turn something off I expect it to go off, not prove to me that it still works ! Fixing this would likely solve the problem.

Hear what your saying and agree completely.

Also, what wiper arms do people fit. I have a set of PIAA wipers - you'd expect them to be good but they still 'lift' at 85mph and over.

Hi,

I had the same problem on my daily motorway commute at around 85/90 mph .

I bought 'champion' wipers from the local motorist shop, the drivers side one has a long spoiler which prevents the wiper lifting from the screen until over 120mph!(didn't bother with the spoiler for passenger side)

You have to buy the wipers seperately, not in a pack of two, as the driver's and passenger's wipers are different sizes, not the same as Halford say!

I bought a pair of the expensive Bosch ones from Halfords. Only one has a spoiler but if you buy them separately then you can get two identical ones. (Who cares about the passenger side anyway, lots of Rain-X and the water blows away above about 45mph)

Also I wondered whether two with spoilers would put more strain on the wiper motor ...

Thanks Guys
