Forget Manual controllers. You can do it cheap (and actually pretty effectively) with Boost jets. Which are Mig welding tips inserted into the Wastegate pipes. 1.0mm will give you roughtly 13/14psi

Electronic boost controllers - Greddy Profec E-01 although getting a little old skool now is a superb piece of kit although a bit on the large side and OTT for some.

The Greddy profec E-01 is cheaper and gets the job done and sits nicely in place of your Standard time clock position.

The Blitz SBC range are good - SBC-id 3 or the Color version.

AVC-R is nice looking bit of kit.

I have the E-01 myself, as I like all the bells and whistles, and I have water temp and oil pressure all connected up to it so no need for other gauges.

Dave, dont you mean the Greddy Profec B Spec II? The E-01 will not fit in place of the standard clock and i agree is OTT for most applications. The Profec B does the job just right and will be cheaper.

Pete

lol Yeh, sorry meant profec B spec II .......should be :

Have to agree, the cheapest way of an increase in bhp are boost jets and chip (if you pm John Dixon on here he'll help you out) I did the job a couple of months back and found the power increase exactly what i needed. Theres a link on how to do the job on here i'm sure someone has it.

By the way , if you decide to go with boost jets don't buy any off ebay for ridiculous prices because they are what legrath said ,simple welders tips. Go to any welders suppliers and you'll get them for a couple of quid.

does your zed have to be chipped to allow it to run 14psi????

Ideally yes (I would'nt recomend running that much boost on stock chip). Most of the forum traders can supply Chip for around £75-£125 and you will get the most out of the boost increase with the chip as well as ensuring safe fuelling so does'nt make any sense not to really.

Just been through all this stuff and was confused as hell to start with. Only just fitting my boost controller a few days ago and paul did my ecu a while back. Stock ecu - safe upto 12 psi. Over that, need a chip that'll improve fuel (as above). Haven't got a clue what happens if you run higher boost to what the stock ecu intends! Starvage comes to mind and wouldn't risk it without doing things properly :nono: I was told to scrap boost jets, get a new ecu and electric boost controller. Car runs better then i'd planned!
yea thats the root ive gone for now just got to get it fitted and set up :(
Yeah, took me ages to getting around to fitting mine. Was just looking at an apexi box for about a week wondering what to do

Actually I decided to go for it and only took about an hour to install. It's not easy, the working everything out part. I had to sort out the ecu wiring and where all the additional wires and hoses + connectors went. If you need a hand, just pm me ;)
