Been runnning my tt auto for a couple of months and only now have i really been able to open it up, bought it as i had a broken ankle and being an auto v easy to drive!, driving with a broke limb is an art form and i was only able to plod around when very nessessary, but now my casts off and strength is improving i have been able to do some "enthusiastic driving" and im not convinced by the performance? i ran a diag got code 55 all ok, replaced plugs, which looked new any way, i cant fault it to drive, no misfires or obvious faults, the boost gauge goes up high etc, but no huge feeling of boost, more like a smooth pick up which does increase as the revs go higher but none of the oomph i experienced in the other zs ive owned, dont get me wrong its not slow slow, just not what i expect from all those horsies, is there anything obvious i missed ? also it seems faster before fully warmed up (not that i advocate that just wanted too see) not clay cold tho!, and it seems quicker if u ease the throttle down rather than plant it??, sorry to blether on like but im frustrated!!! help!!!!!

how? it all works fine kick down power and hold all work spot on, or do you mean something else?

i would recommend having the engine compression tested, i did all sorts to mine before i had it compression tested and it was the rings

jesus wish id never asked, lol, its only done 77000 kilometers and to drive you would believe it so id be amazed if rings were gone but for peace of mind il do it, can anyone think of something a bit less terminal and scary i can try before i kill my self

possible boost leak, timing out, tps not set right, rings buggered, auto box fooked, peice of string too long lol

 

it could be anything, get along to a meet and ask somone with more knowledge

Think I need to find a hotel and spend a few days up there with you guys lol

Mate, the auto is not the same to drive as manuals, I know thats obvious, but with the recircvalves and no throttle shut off, cause you not changing gear, you don't get that kick as the Turbo boosts. Mines the same, I put my foot down and think this aint quick !! then look down and I'm rattling above 100 well quick and having to throttle back before I run into the back of that slow moving rep Mondeo travelling at 110!!!!

Do check water temp semsor connection though, mine caused all sorts of holding back probs cause it was loose!

i was going to say they are more like one continuous surge to whenever you run out of road or bottle.

 

Not as snappy as a manual. A good test for you to is to get the car rolling at say 15 mph and then jam your foot down, should make it kickdown into first... then they feel quick!

If it doesnt feel fast then there is somthing wrong with it

Yea maybe your right, i tried just planting foot from 30kms and watched the speedo and to be fair it went up pretty quickly, in fact i videod it and from 30kms to 190 took just under 20 seconds, any of you guys timed yours, does this sound about right????????

That does sounds a bit slow tbh...

 

Standard 0-100mph (0-185 kph) should be around 14 secs (or under 12secs with 1 bar boost). Yours took 6 secs longer with the advantage of a 15mph rolling start.......

Hi 160 kmph is 100 mph, and that came up inbetween 13-14 secs with the advantage of a 18mph (30kph) start, so still a bit slow based on those times you gave , 0-60mph is coming up in 6 dead and 0-130kph takes 10 secs, obviously this is from my cam phone and not timed by tag heur but its fairly accurateish

Oh by the way its absolutely standard bar a cat back ss exh and is on 18" rims now, not sure itd make any difference having either of these like, i suspect not

maybe i should give you a race. As mine has a lot of problems and if you don't beat me to 60 then you know something is definately wrong. Mine has very low compression in one cylinder

Hi 160 kmph is 100 mph, and that came up inbetween 13-14 secs with the advantage of a 18mph (30kph) start, so still a bit slow based on those times you gave , 0-60mph is coming up in 6 dead and 0-130kph takes 10 secs, obviously this is from my cam phone and not timed by tag heur but its fairly accurateish

 

my mph-kph conversion was wrong, sorry, so yeh that does seem a bit better. 0-60 time is about right for an Auto...
