Just wondering if its normal to hear the fuel pump engage just after starting the car? I'm sure thats what the noise is but it sounds quite loud and i've never noticed it before.

when you turn the ignition on (not started yet) its common to here the fuel pump prime the lines with a short buzz. then it should run silent.

yeah i get that but i also get it again when the engine has started and i first put my put on the accelerator. after that it runs quiet. as i said, never noticed it before just hope its not on its way out

Mate I can hear mine all the time, it buzzs on start, then when it gets warm I can hear it all the time. Not loud, but there. I'm thinking of changing it but have been put off of the race spec ones as someone said they can be noiser and have less output!!?? Nissan ones are a fortune!

if it's a short buzz usually shortly after you engage gear, it's not the fuelpump, but the ABS pump priming.

As this pump is inside the car, you can hear it more clearly.

aaahhhh now that makes sense. ding and the penny drops. it confused the hell out of me as i couldnt understand why it would sound like the fuel pump priming again ! :headvswal
