2002 Merc C-class 320 estate - any good?

Me mate's thiking about getting one.

 

Petrol, not diesel.

 

Anyone know anything about them?

Are they any good?

 

I know some Mercs of late have had qualoity issues - are these ok?

 

Any idea what to check when looking one over?

    Personally I think that a 2002 Merc will be free of any major issues, quality or otherwise. I have a 1999 SLK as a daily driver; it's a solid and fine quality car and I'm pleased with it - I'm thinking of a new shape one next.....

     

    The 320 diesel may be a better option than the petrol though - my MD had a new E-class 320d and that was a superb engine (for a diesel).
