SWB Questions

Hi Guys,

I'm a new guy on this forum and I've signed up as I'm thinking of buying a SWB 300ZX. I've got a few questions, so I hope that you can help.

Firstly I'd like to know in which years the SWB was produced. From what I've found out so far the 300ZX was produced in Japan all the way up to 2000, but I'm not sure if that included the SWB?

Also, were the slicktops produced in the same years as the targas or did they have separate production runs?

Lastly, for the time being, are there any recommended importers/dealers that are good to go to for a car?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

VladD.

ifaik only JDM (jap domestic market) had the same run with slicktops and targas. If your looking at a swb it will be a import because only 2+2's were produced for the uk market, so check with your insurer as jdm's are more expensive to insure.

For an importer look for Kirbz or Importance in the traders section

SWB was produced in japan for all years 1989-2000, including the slicktop although Nissan dropped the SWB Targa version in 1996 and only produced the SWB in slicktop form in final years.

SWB Targa : 1989-1996

SWB Slicktop : 1989-2000

They are however quite hard to come by and usually command a higher premium.

We have are own Importer on here in the traders section - Import-ance. There is also Kirbz, but I believe he is taking a holiday from the business currently.

There is a slicktop for sale on here at the moment in the for sale section at a good price.

Thanks for the quick replies guys.

Are the Targas generally water tight? Soft tops I've had before have always been terrible in the winter for condensation. Are the 300s better?

Yeh, there pretty good...nothing like a normal convertable.

If they do have leaks its becuase the seals are damages/worn after 15 odd years and need replacing.
