OK so i've put in Redline MT90 (about x3 litres) and also some Molyslip.

Driven about 300 miles to Cornwall and still the gears whine in 1-3.

Soon as i dip the clutch when idling the noise dissapears completely or if i'm in 4th or 5th again no noise whatsoever! :headvswal

Does this mean i need to pull the gearbox apart and fix it or can i just run it with the noise until it goes bang!!!!!!

Any ideas as i can really afford a new gearbox just yet!

Cheers

Alex

Save your self the time and money by checking the gator first as advised above by a couple of people.

I thought my box was on its way out, same symptomns, but recently I had changed the gearshift bushes to make the gear stick stiffer.

Reversed the procedure and found that the rubber gator was not secured correctly, it's amazing now much noise reduction that small rubber seal provides.

I will definately check the gaitor but as i mentioned before the noise dissapears when i put the clutch down so i can't see how checking the gaitor will make any difference!

However if it's another possibility and could save a new gearbox then soon as i drive back to London i will check it ;o)

Cheers
