Now this is probably because yesterday I was talking about selling her as I need somthing more practicle.

On the way to work, Fine, excellent as normal

Way back, Slight "Judder" pulling away in second ?

Also when accelerating hard get to about 5/6 PSI and it judders again, you can feel it through the whole car? But if you keep your foot in it goes ?

Now im a complete newbie could be missfiring for all I know

Dunno you will have to explain why that could be that ? I dont know what parts do lol

It boosts fine/accelerates fine just a kind of juddery noise

Edit: Also no smoke or anything that I can see, Might of gone through more petrol on this tank then Normal ?

If you have an induction kit on, it may have water in it or be damp. This is usually a sympton.

Also check your temp sensor this will usually cause a judder around 3.5 - 5 rpm.

From the description when you hit 5-6psi or pulling away in a lower gear your putting quite a bit of force through the drive train, which if the prop shaft bearing is goinr, meaning its looser, will cause it to vibrate. might be wrong but mis-fire not normally a judder.

I'd go along the propshaft bearing route mate. Definatly sounds more of a propshaft fault than anything else. Probably find excess play in the UJ/knuckle

Ok had somone from work come out with me reckons its Missfiring.

It makes some pops and stuff at idle sounds a bit rough, misses intermitidly till about 2k RPM then clears until you get it on boost then it does it again.

At idle I can rev it all the way thorugh the band with no problem so it seems its when its under load?

Also running quite rich going through petrol more then normal

i was about to say a missfire pete

sparkplugs been replaced lately? go with some nissan do ngkpfr11b off the top of my head.

its likely to be either intermittant PTU, dodgy coilpack or connector, replace the sparkplugs as a service item. Then go from there, always a PM away if you need advice or ideas? ;)

Sounds like temp sensor to me or possibly the TPS. Temp sensor is on the upper metal coolant pipe at the front of the engine, usually yellow connector with 2 pins. Take it off and give the terminals a good clean. If that fails try disconnecting the grey connector on the flying lead from the tps and reconnecting it while the engine is running, sometimes clears it :)

If you can't find TPS is on the passenger side of the plenum (throttle bodies).

Another thought, O2 sensor have an impact on the lower rev range and are not used at the higer end.

Is it a vibration in the car or a judder like the engine is not responding as it should ?.

Vibration would point to bearings, judder would point to electrical or fuel.

Anyone near you got a conzult, this would probably find most electrical problem straight away.

How do I get the yellow temp sensor off ?

Whats the TPS? got a pic of it ?

Its more of a Judder below 2k RPM but feels more like a vibration when I get on boost (it seems to be boosting fine btw maybe a little off)

Unfortunatly I dont know anyone with conzult :(

Also, while looking around this morning I found this lead disconnect, also the one the other side of the engine was disconnected as well, what is it ? Also coolant was suspicously low, as in may as well been empty?

as far as i know (cos i am fairly new to this) they are the safety boost solenoid connectors, commonly disconnected when a boost controller is added

Cheers!!

yup fyrkat is correct you should have one either side. If you have a boost controller fitted you will need to disconnect these. If you do not have a boost controller fitted, you should definately have these connected.

The temp sensor can be removed by unclipping the metal spring clip. Once this is off (make sure you catch it these things have a habbit of running for their lives once they are off), the temp sensor should just lift off. The black sensor next ot it is the sensor for the temp dial on your dash.

The TPS is actually in your first picture of your last post. it's the black unit mounted on the side of the throttle boddies. Don't unscrew the nuts on the mount for this as any slight movement and you will be adjusting the Throttle position without meaning to. The connector comes off in the same way as the temp sensor, metal clip off and it should just pull off.

Yeah got boost controller, now im gonna have to try and disconnect the leads again, they were hard to push on so god knows what they will be like trying to unplug?

Edit: Would being low on coolant of effected anything ?

Being low on coolant will effect many things, especially after the car warms up.

Low coolant leads to high engine temp, ECU starts shutting things down if it gets too hot in there, serious damage many occour if you do not keep the coolant up (or any other repayments based on it.. sorry went into work mode there).

Top up the coolant, clean the sensors, take it for a spin, let it cool down again, top up the coolant again (you're more then likely gonna have an air lock or two if it was almost empty). I would recomend that you clean all sensors you can get to (just make sure you don't snap anything). Also clean the MAF sensor (under the headlight panel)

Once you think you have the problem solved, it may be worth resetting your ECU. Disconect the battery for an hour, pump the clutch and brake petals a few times to drain the system of any power. Then reconnect the battery and drive like the wind ;). May be a little lumpy for the first 100 miles after a reset but it will clear any previous faults it had stored and also learn new settings with the cleaned sensors that may have been given incorrect signals.

Done all the simple things I can do, check the connectors/heat temp sens and the TPS thingy, disconnected the battery, no avail ? Guess mechanic time to check sparkplugs/coil packs ?

Im not 100% convinced its a missfire, it is more of a vibration rather then a judder, but it IS a judder at low revs, more of a vibration when gettin on boost, and it is running rich but that could be somthing else..

Pete, I have a conzult and will be in Norwich tomorrow, unfortunately my laptop has been broken so you will have to use your own and I would have to leave it with you with the manual to play with it as I wont have time to stop and help, but your welcome to keep it for a week or two to play around, failing that possibly Sunday I could help if I have time.

  • Author

Unfortunatly im working all w/e and I dont have a laptop :(

I could possibly try and get sunday off if you have your laptop back/and or have time to help, or a day mid week, if not thanks for the offer mate :)

I will be at Dunston hall at 7.30 tomorrow evening and leaving sometime Sunday, my laptop has not been working for months and I have not had time to sort it but if you know anything about computers your welcome to have it as well and see if you can get it to work. Then away for 2 weeks so not going to be much help to you I am afraid.

  • Author

Ok mate ill leave it for now then I wont be any good with the conzult by myself I doubt.

reckon it could be prophaft bearing ?

If you can meet me at 7.30 you can take me for a spin for 5 minutes and I will let you know what I think but I will be very short on time unfortunately, as with most things it could be a number of things prop or electrical.

  • Author

That would be great if you wouldnt mind mate ?

I could meet you at 7:30, where abouts? at dunston hall ? Ive never been there but have a rough idea where it is
