ive just looked deep into this and its very easy, you can get it on e bay for £30 delivered, i would post the link, but dont know how sorry. type in 300zx speed convertor

it is easily fitted with only 1 wire needed to be cut.

Whilst there is hardly anything to go wrong, some of them tend not to last very long.

Also, these simple devices DO affect other speed related control systems such as HICAS, autobox, power steering etc.

So Andy, is there a way of changing the speedo to read MPH (apart from UK clocks) that works properly?

There is the "change resistor" method which costs a few pence. I wont go into detail here as it's been covered many times on this site.

Try searching this forum for 'resistor' I'm sure you'll find what you want.

And don't be deterred by thinking it's difficult, if you can fit the convertor you can replace a resistor.

Cheers - Dave

there is a new face you can use. no electronics, just a changed face.

Yeah.....but it only goes up to 120mph!

If you have a Jap TT then I'd highly recommend going for UK clocks over any form of convertor. You get PSI Boost and oil gauges, they look nicer and they actually work properly and reliably !

The convertors are reasonably simple to fit, but I have seen failure from the ebay ones when fitting....maybe 2 our ofhalf or dozed or so.

Resistor mod is a little more tricky and requires some soldering work to the back of the clocks and you may also need to make some further adjustments on the road using the adjustment pots afterwards to get the speedo accurate.

cheapest way is the resistor mod, costs pence and you end up with what is essentially a UK speedo.

I wouldn't recommend a convertor box to anyone, it will screw up your zed end of story.

The 120mph clock faces do the trick, but look naff and the colour/illumination doesn't match the other dials properly.

I got a converter box that has a 4 point fixing on the back of the dials from Z centre

a chap there called Luke, very helpful, it coverts the Speedo from KPH to MPH.

Makes the KPH speedo face read in MPH eg 60 KPH on speedo face will now read 60 MPH and likewise for 180 :)

Removes the 112 MPH resricted top speed.

Makes the Odometer start counting in miles.

Removes the 60 MPH restricted cruise top speed (if cruise fitted).

Comes with easy fitting instructions.

"Made in England" using high quality components unlike the nasty low quality convertors from the far east.

It hasn't buggered up the power steering, auto box or anything else for that matter (so far) you have to completely disasemble the pod but i'm very pleased with the result

Doesn't bugger them up - just alters the speed signal to them. You will find that your steering is lighter now at motorway speed, which isn't a particularly good thing.

Not noticed that tbh but to be fair i'd not done much motorway driving before fitting it but come to think of it, it would be better with a bit more resistance, i wonder if there's a way to adjust it?
